this is interesting but also confusing. i like that its not superficial, like it doesnt matter how the artist really looks. but now i also imange there is a 15yo girl doing a videocall gaze for their idol and its a 53yo behind it...
i would like that only their voices matter and not their looks but since they dont sing live that becomes irrelevant.

all this shows is that for every BB Girls (Brave Girls) there are thousands of nugu groups whose songs didn't go viral and thus they can't pay the bills
But all those groups that did go viral (Exid, AOA, Momoland, BB Girls, 50/50) did have a certain quality tho. Not all groups put out the quality or put in the effort. there was a group i think kaachi or so. I think they would never go viral unless as some kind of parody. Or another group that disbanded after one day.
But there are lots of groups that deserved to go viral but didnt. Dalshabet - "someone like you" or bestie "love bomb" for example. This shows that you also need timing and luck if you dont start from an established company.

subjectively i think the 2016-2020 blinks music is from higher quality and deserved the praise. and yg went a liddle lazy with the latest album but it was eaten up too. so there is that.

also depending on popularity. a more popular artist would receive much more hate but probably no punishment from the company. while a less popular idol would receive not that much backlash but may face some punishment from the company.

i mean they are nothing serious in the sense that a lot of people use encores to dictate who is talented and who isn't and i have to keep reminding them that encores were never supposed to be taken seriously. Idols have eaten noodles, ice, and other stuff during encores.
I mean I also want my idols to get an encore but that doesn't mean one bad encore should immediately deem them "untalented."
true. they are celebrations of a win. idols are supposed to show their skill earlier, not in the encore.
Even if they just make a mukbang during encore. hope i see an encore again.
