I thought is was super small, especially compared to twice or red velvet. But now I heard they have the biggest cane base in Korea for gg? What

Well yes they are very fandom driven, nobody outside of their fanbase listens to or checks out their music. It’s just the way it is I guess

Well, 3rd Gen started 10 years ago, so it's not surprising that it's time is coming to a close. The Kpop gods needed a sacrifice to jumpstart the rise of 4th Gen and they got it when Izone was sabotaged. Their farewell concert in March of last year heralded the rise of 4th gen. Immediately after their defacto end, we saw StayC come out of nowhere with ASAP, then Aespa following it up with Next Level. Now we've seen Izone Vor Ever come out with a smash hit of their own, Eleven.
Next year will be an all out war with JYPNGG and HYBENGG joining the fray.

SEVENTEEN, TWICE, BTS, Red Velvet, and NCT all had comebacks last year. 3rd gen isn't as widespread or "trendy" as it was back in 2015-19, but it's very much still alive and has room for growth which is still happening. 4th gen is rising, yes. But there hasn't been a full-scale takeover like 2015 yet.
Yes, it isn’t as wide spread because it’s so hard to have longevity in kpop, and back then no 4th gen existed.
Let’s see how many of these 4th gen groups are relevant in 2025, because with all these newer debuts half of these 4th gen groups ain’t gonna last at the top. It’s sad but that’s how it is

Actually I won’t deny that people who fit the beauty standard more are seen as more ‘feminine’ but I don’t think it’s why I see Blackpink as it more than 2ne1 in the end.
Instead of ‘feminine’ maybe the right word is girly? Because I can’t deny that 2ne1 were quite feminine themselves. But Blackpink styling is younger than 2ne1 and is more ‘trendy’ yah know?
Also Blackpink are not 2ne1 copies

One reason they blew up is because the GIRL part in their girl crush is super prominent, they are trendy, super feminine, cute and elegant. But they also are fierce, badass, majestic, and have that swag and lager attitude.
In comparison to Blackpink, other groups that did gc back in 2nd gen had the CRUSH in girl crush focused on, the girl part in girl crush was a bit absent.
It reminds me of the fan wars between snsd and 2ne1 back in the day. Snsd were the more ’feminine’ and elegant group while 2ne1 was badass explosive and could smack you in the face with their charisma (well snsd too but you get what I mean)
Most young girls/teenagers face a kind of ’hardship’ where they feel like they either have to be only feminine or more masculine and not like other girls. When in reality most girls want to be girly and badass at the same time? People can’t be put in a box and sometimes you wanna be girly sometimes you don’t, sometimes you wanna be fierce sometimes you don't.
Which is why bp appeals to a bigger audience. People don’t have to choose whether they want girly or badass- Blackpink are both.
I wonder if yg ent figured this out/thinks this too because Blackpink’s whole concept is actually that the are badass and feminine at the same time, it’s what Black n pink mean in BLACKPINK.

There’s blackpink, everglow, loona, gidle and aespa(?)…
Twice, itzy, Stayc, fromis 9, red velvet, mama moo, weeekly, brave girls, IVE, cherry bullet, momoland, purple kiss, wjsn, weki meki… they are all not girl crush
Even the girl crush girl groups are different. Everglow and pixy are more hard hitting dance and styled with black /with some chains.
Gidle are just gidle I have no idea what to call them. They change every comeback.
aespa have some themes of girl crush but it’s more fanstasy/ai stuff.
And Blackpink is hard hitting song wise and they are super fierce but also fashionable expensive and very feminine. They don’t go hard dancing wise.
There’s really not so much girl crush honestly. And the girl crush groups don’t blend with each other all that much.
So why does everyone say the industry has to much gc?

Everyone says bg doesn’t need hit sales and only need sales but that isn’t true.
They need hit songs or at least that majority of kpop fans listen too, like gods menu went viral in kpop fandom and blew skz up so much
And fever blew up enhypen as well
Big Bang exist too, they were carried by their charting. hit songs can help bg so much

Unpopular kpop opinions subreddit? As the name suggest that is subreddit for unpopular / no longer popular group stans shitting on popular groups lmao
We all know most opinions on there are popular there though, actual unpopular stuff gets downvoted n hidden

lol I was on Reddit n Some of them saying twice charting isn’t hit 100% so they aren’t ngg
And they were saying only snsd was ngg and no gg can compare
