They aren’t copying enhypen, though I did hear jyp stole the concept of a previous gg MIXX?
Tbh that’s cuz nobody asked for them, like we have Itzy alr. It’s not the same with smngg (aespa) and ygngg when there is/was years of waiting and theory abt them.
And Itzy have not solidified themselves in the industry yet, they are basically 3yrs old rn but feel like rookies, Itzy debut when twice was 3yrs old but twice was the top gg and solidified themselves long ago. That’s why everyone was a okay with it, but Itzy fans feel they don’t have that security twice did, we all know gg fans anxious of new ggs debuting bcs companies misogynistic and sexist AF. Nmixx will be itzy’s competition the way Itzy was never for twice.
They’ll still do well, maybe we shouldn’t judge their hype rn since no concept pics have come out but even then I remember Itzy and aespa having so much more hype during this time of their predebut phase.

I think people are taking it out of context because a lot of people like to state that girl groups have digitals and boy groups have physicals but that's not the case with top groups. Apart from SNSD, no girl group could compete with top boy groups consistently is charting or album sales. SNSD were rare and I doubt we will see it again with girl groups. BTS' next album will probably hit 6 million, it would be amazing if bp could even do half of that at 3 million for their next album (assuming yg will give them another album rather than mini's and singles ). BP could have actually competed with bts in physicals had yg played their cards right, maybe not at bts' level but somewhere close to 4 million. But no idol group has produced constant hits like bts or big bang (apart from snsd). 2017 they had dna and spring day, 2019 was boy with love, 2020 was dynamite. They had one of the, if not the, top hits every year except 2018. 2018 was also ruled by ikon and love scenario. BP had d4 and momoland had boom boom, but that and tt and cheer up were probably the only songs that could compete with boy group hits. 2015 was ruled by big bang, 2016, exo was still huge but in terms of number one hit I could give it to cheer up. 2017 was either dna or spring day, 2018 was a good year for gg, then 2019-2021 was all boy groups. Aespa brought that back with next level but only time will tell if they suffer like other gg. GG tend to be a phase with the gp and they don't have the fanbase to back up their b sides. That's why totals will always go towards bg. Take bts, they had all seven songs from be chart on melon and big bang had their entire made album chart in 2015. That's because their fans stream their b sides and the gp will then check it out after seeing it chart. Boy group fans will also make sure their groups title track will do good and promote it and the gp will check it out. This leads to longevity in bg careers.
Snsd did not have constant hits, only from 2009-2011. Afterwards they were never the top gg digitally, 2ne1 and sister were a lot more consistent

To be fair 3rd gen for girl groups only lasted four 4 years (2014-2017) and the 4th gen has already been going for 4+ years now (2018-now). So it's not like the 4th gen is that new anymore.
And there wasn't any huge changes in 3rd gen girl groups popularity after the 4th gen began. Twice and Blackpink swapped places, Oh My Girl grew in popularity, and Momoland released Bboom Bboom. So the overall top 10 would basically be the same except with the addition of Momoland (which is debatable).
3rd gen was cut short by the hungry n annoying 4th gen fans, they forced the 4th gen title on us…

Lsg is that girl #15 in 2021 lol, and Rosie!! She did pretty well for her debut

Lovesick girls was a bigger hit in 2021 than dun dun dance, ASAP, and eleven(only been here for 2 months)
It was top 3 gg song in 2021 behind rollin and next level
3rd gen will rise up again in 2022.
-
I would still give it to dolphin then. It had better longevity than hylt
-
In 2020 dolphin or psycho was the biggest hit.
2021 you could add rollin? I mean bg members are all from 2016 so they could count as 3rd gen
Or go with dun dun dance or lovesick girls in 2021, by the end of the year I think lovesick girls had more points in 2021 but dun dun dance outpaced it now.
2019 was def dalla dalla, psycho came to late in the year… but Itzy ain’t 3rd gen are they? So it would probably go to FANCY Twice or mamamoo HIP.
2017 aitly would take the cake I think? Idk though knock knock and red flavor were huge hits too.

I am not the troll you think I am

I said what I said,,, bg in kpop can be the best in all of kpop, but gg can only be best for a gg
Just look at Itzy, people will not praise their dancing without putting gg in front. While their fellow bg mates can just be called one of the best.
Seems like many think gg are just inherently less talented

No, I haven’t even seen this thread

I mean I’m def hyped up for the groups but I don’t think it’s be this huge competitive thing people are making it out to be

Bp did not peak 2018.
And only bg on the charts is bts. But ur right, bg in general have a higher ceiling- why the f do you think these company’s are inversting in their little 4th gen bg even though they’ve lived up to no expectations. Cuz once a bg hits it big they can grow so much.
No gg has every consistently had higher album sales than all bgs, (besides snsd that one year)
But there are multiple bg that have had huge hits and were the most consistent digitally of their gen (big bang, bts).
Actually if you look at idol songs longest charting in top 100 it will just be bg songs.
It’s sad for gg but that’s what happens in a society that heavily favors men, and a patriarchy
