TBL seems to be preparing to become a public company soon.
That would make sense considering they're taking auditions for a new GG, and Taeyang in their roster would bolster their chances of getting investors.
but it's still in the early stages, and UNLESS YG is transferring all of their assets over to TBL due to certain events to distance themselves from the YGE corporate identity -(essentially naming Teddy as the heir to the YG legacy, and TBL becoming YGE 2.0), i still think BP"s move to TBL as unlikely. YGE is still public coorporation afterall and they have investors, stock holders to answer to and this kinda stunt would land YG in yet another legal hot waters.

Rambling and selective reading. Thank you for the akorns
oh.
so u were just describing yourself all this time.
bringing up false equivalence by comparing BP to lee hi when they're nothing a like and then accusing others of doing it
just ramblin and selective reading.. then accusing *others of doing it.
yw for the akorns. seems like u do this frequently

And yet another false equivalence. You have far too many.
My dear, Kakao mediaplaying articles to make the competition look bad does not even come close to the same scope of how SM straight up banned Jessica from the industry, something YG has never done to a former artist, regardless of the terms they left on. Every company media plays like kakao on some level, it's marketing, just very messy. YG has burned many bridges with most of the other major networks and corporations in the k-industry and they have few artists they can leverage against BP (basically only treasure) unlike SM. Most brands BP works with hates their team at YG. No doubt YG would be pissed but they're the company with the least likelihood of retaliation and least capability of serious damage amongst the B4.
Kang Daniel, Yerin Baek, Highlight. All started their companies. All fine.
You guys simply need to chill.
you sweet summer child.
the false equivalence u speak of is conjured up by you not comprehending the situation.
you somehow think BP leaving YG and formin their own label is "similar" to Lee hi and Sunmi leaving their company.
yg doesnt need to blacklist BP. the other companies and their industry will eat them alive.
ask yourself.. if SM was the only one who blacklisted Jessica, JYJ, or anyone who went against them, WHY.. DID THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY BLACKLISTED THEM TOO? DO you honestly think SM has that much control?or is it more logical that it was a combination of SM blacklisting them and SM's competitors making moves ahead of JYJ and jessica to make them irrelevant SINCE THEY HAVE THEIR OWN ARTISTS TO PROMOTE?
what fantasy world do you live in???
* but
rather than Jessica JYJ seems to be the more closer example - they were a group - albeit only 3 of the 5, but Jaejoong was by far the most popular member - and TVXQ was HUGE. yet.. where are they now? what happened to them after they formed their "label"?
-
are you conveniently thinking you live in some fantasy world where competition doesnt exist and that kakao wasnt exposed to using underhanded tactics to smear the competition? or are you delusional enough to think that nobody would "care" if bp starts their own company? lee hi? sunmi ? do or did they start their own labels?
-
after thinking about this a bit more while playing league..
I think i kinda get where you're coming from.
so i'll throw you 2 a bone:
of the 4, LISA is a different story.
Lisa by herself may and possibly could start her own label in THAILAND - she has an extensive family and pretty much the entire country at her disposal that would support her. I doubt anyone would want to see her fail since she is.. so popular and revered there . Yes, she will have companies, CEOS, business experts BEGGING to work with or FOR her.
but .. this essentially shuts her out of the kpop market; however, since she does have a kpop background, she will still make headlines in Korea and her connections there would be wide open - but as a "foreign" artist who graduated from the kpop world.
she will mainly be active in Thailand and the non-kpop world tho.
But that's ok. that path maybe better for her - even more lucrative.
IDK about the other members - and the scenarios i laid out earlier were only in regards to the group as a whole within the korean entertainment industry, not anywhere else.
Lisa has more than enough resources to do this in Thailand.
but..the question is... would SHE WANT TO? at this point in her career? she's only 25, she can resign, be on top of the world as a star, learn more of how the business side works and be a titan of industry when that contract ends - she then can dedicate all fo her time on her company- I think that's what she's been planning to do anyways.
-
a lot of assumptions lol even through teddy they could have made a lot of connections from, a lot of western artists/producers wanted to collaborate with them. Im not saying they are gonna leave YG but if they want to make their own label they'll have the resources to do so... Got 7, Kang Daniel pulled it off
they really dont have any resources - not business wise.
but u can dream that they do.
-
I'm not naive, you sound naive making all those conclusions.
How much info do you have about their strengths and weaknesses to know if they can successfully have their label or not? Now that they are globally huge, do you know the kind of connections and networking they are doing behind closed doors, at parties, brand events etc? I hear that Jennie's mother has some power in the music industry and it's possible that that'show she's black pink. etc. Just because you don't know, it doesn't mean that they don't have what it takes to do their thing.
Jessica never started her own label, at least not legally, her boyfriend did and she's so successful in China right now. She's an A list celebrity with hundreds of millions of views on Weibo. It took a while but it was all worth it.
Also Jessica is blacklisted, so it's easy to promote her in Korea. She's not comparable to anyone not blacklisted.
oh my sweet summer child.
i do hope the new year brings u joy and happiness.
never change.

Why?
fine.
you asked "WHY?", so i'll tell you "WHY".
idk how long u've been following kpop, but of the yrs i've followed kpop - it's been made clear to me that money or popularity or a combination of both does not mean you can properly run a kpop agency or a company- they need business connections, and have to be savy politicians to maneuver their way successfully.
I was once naive like you.
I too thought when Jessica started her own company after SM fired her for no reason, that she'd bury all her competitions and would be a titan in the kpop industry - or at the very least be "Better off" than staying with SM. But we all know how she suddenly disappeared from the kpop scene. Have you even heard of the Agency her bf set up ? or the artists in that agency? do u know how relevant they are now? oh?
BP are artists. do you think they have the connections to get on music shows? how about organizing concerts? or get on the phone to get deals made with endorsers? sponsors?- fine they're rich enough, they dont need music shows, or endorsers... or organize, promote concert - they can hire pple.
hire who?
you think they have ceos and industry experts on their speed dial?
and let's say they DO have ceos and industry experts on speed dial.. then what?where will they practice? buy a building? pay teddy to produce their music? or will they produce it themselves? do you think learning the business end of the entertainment industry can happen over night?
Being an ambassador for a brand is one thing, doing actual accounting to make your company profitable is another matter - knowing who to hire, who to fire, - LISA GOT SCAMMED BY HER EX MANAGER - do you honestly believe they can discern the leeches from those who are willing to do legitimate work cus they care about their "brand"?
but let's say they do .. that the Gods of kpop are smiling down upon them and EVERYTHING goes perfectly.
how long will this take? and while they're gettin a crash course on business, accounting, politics etc do you think the time will just stop and wait for them to establish themselves??
Jisoo is 27. Jenni is 26 - and even if the girls are geniuses in this scenario, they're up against dozens of multi million companies all trying to get the slice of the same pie.
it's been close to a decade since Jessica's bf set up his "agency" and jessica's doing stunts in china.
if u think this is better for BP than stayin at YG .. then more power to you. i somehow find this very unrealistic.
-
They can make their own label.
no.. they really can't.
-
-
-
they dont seem to have the industrial connections - idols usually dont - look what happened to jessica.
i dont think black label is a reality either just for that reason - they're backed by YG money, but the black label seems to be more geared towards the domestic indy market - but that could change in the future. they are taking auditions for a GG afterall; Still, i dont think it's realisitic at this point for BP to go to the much smaller black label.
-
Why wont BP resign with YG? - it's in the best interest for both parties to have BP resign.
YG cant afford to lose BP so the members would have more bargaining power.
also, Where else can the members go after YG? no korean agency will know what to do with them - they really are entering new ground breaking areas. BP's too much to handle for small/midsize agencies and they dont have the resources to make deals in a global market. which leaves the other big 3+ hybe.
BP doesnt fit Sm's or HYbe's corporate model - they wont know how to promote them properly and will try to force them to pump out content after content.
JYPE is less stringent but they too seem to be clueless - they're VERY good with knowing what appeals to the asian market , but we all know how famously JYP failed in the western market - he's learned from his mistake but he still doesnt have nearly a decade of experience YG has in this area.
then what? western agencies? i dont trust any one of them and they have no idea how to promote asian artists.
Like it or not, and although BP deserves better, YG is their best option.
they have a very successful world tour right now, have top tier endorsements, artistic freedom and they make bank.
Unless the members have a catastrophic falling out with YGe, or the girls being tired of being idols or in a group, i dont see them not resigning.

lol this thread still going on?
Sakura is MORE popular NOW more than EVER.
After izone and when she graduated from HkT Sakura opened her instagram and it hoovered around 2 million followers. When it was announced she would be part of Le sserafim, her followers went up to 3 million. SHE NOW HAS OVER 5.5 MILLION FOLLOWERS. (imo she deserves AT LEAST 50 million..but easy does it- world domination doesnt happen overnight , but we're on our way)
I think ya'll were expecting her to be the center of attention for EVERY Le Sserafim CB- but that's clearly NOT the image Source is going for. - They want to distribute and let the public get to know the other members too - this way, we EXPAND the fanbase and not only rely on sakura stans. This, imo is VERY smart and GOOD for the group as a whole.
But take a step back and imagine Le sserafim w/o Sakura.. or Chaewon or Yunjin.. or Kazuha, o Manchae..
you can't , right? it feels like the group is missing a limb. Whenever the members were out cus of covid, we felt that chasm (although they did EXCEPTIONALLY to fill that chasm) and the Group as a whole is LESS than a yr old, but they seem like veterans.
I and many other hybe stans DIDNT EVEN FOLLOW IZONE, - nor did we even watch produce48. BUT i did AFTER I heard sakura was going to be in Le Sserafim to know more about her - needless to say i became a fan.
I think you're equating the lack of center position Source gives her to her popularity. and that equation is wrong.
Sakura's popularity still rises even when she's not the center. THE ATTENTION GOES TO HER REGARDLESS. DID YOU SEE HER IN THAT BLACK DRESS AT SBS DAEJEON??? SHE'S UNREAL
SO,NO, i very much disagree. ACTUALLY, imo, Sakura is SIGNIFICANTLY MORE POPULAR NOW THAN SHE WAS IN IZONE.

Partly inspired by a conversation I had in another thread
and may or may not be inspired by me trying to find sakura gifs for my pfp and #Strugglingbut also just a general observation I've hadTo summarize what I said, she was undoubtedly top2 in IZ*ONE and she along with Wonyoung were most definitely key to their success (Sakura being essential to their sales & Wonyoung to their GP appeal). Now she's probably not even top3 in LSFM depending on the metric and if you ask a non-fan their favorite member the chances of them naming Sakura ahead of Yunjin, Chaewon or Kazuha are kinda low. I mean she has her fanbase but that's kinda it atp
It's interesting to compare because while I feel like WY has grown in popularity after debuting in IVE & has managed to remain the most popular member of her group both GP and fanbase wise, the complete opposite has happened to Sakura. Thoughts?
hmm... think it's just you.
I think she's more popular than ever.
-
idk..
the thing about SvT is .. their songs never leave your head.. and they just become cooler and cooler with more exposure regardless of what agency they're at.
Hybe was smart/lucky to acquire SvT. They're just SOOOO GOOOD!!!!\
and with hybe's connections within the US and elsewhere..the fanbase is rapidly growing

I agreed with you up until this point. The competition to become a trainee at those agencies is enormous and even if you do land a contract with them, it's a widely known practice to trade the contract around between companies, so you may sign with SM Entertainment then be passed to Woollim then be passed to DSP before your contract ends. Not to mention, that the competition is lower at those agencies as well. Also, there are people that would like to only achieve a medium level of popularity while they are active and then return to a normal life after the group disbands, so a smaller company like TOP, FNC, Woollim, DSP, etc. would be a better fit than HYBE, SM, YG, or JYP because of the amount of spotlight you'd get it would be borderline impossible to transition back to a normal life. I don't have any aspirations of being an idol, but I wouldn't want to be at big 4 for that exact reason.
idk, fellow queen. FNC didnt pay AOA until they were well into their 3rd yr after they debuted. Woolim's CEO literally punched one of infinite's members on live broadcast - that just shows the surface of the abuse these artists gets or got in those mid tier agencies. look what MBK did to T-ara.
i dont think the risk of being abused for yrs by a smaller agency is worth it just cus u dont want to be super famous.
I GET what you're saying tho. I WISH there was a system that did just that - where the trainees can explore their options SAFELY w/o being taken advantage of. SO far the systems that's in place of the big 3 for trainees is top class - it's like you get a scholarship to be trained by the best dancers, singers in the world
* so maybe i mis-wrote. maybe i meant make sure u debut under the big 3 +hybe - IF you want to be a kpop global star. but if you want to just get a tad famous, make sure you bring your lawyer when signing with small firms so that they cant swindle you ?
