definitely... idol group fans moved from melon to easier charts to chart on like bugs and genie. melon thought making top100 will win them back, but things just dont look right for them anymore. youtube music also coming for their spot
i hope gaon eventually realizes the significance of youtube music in korea, next level couldve gone #1 if they counted streams from yt music... also i hope they weigh down downloads a bit and weigh streams more
I'm not sure abt weighing down downloads, afaik Gaon Digi Point basically shows you how much money a song generated. So, ofc downloads will weigh a lot more than streams.

Lol maybe they will in the future, if they keep losing subscription/streams. They changed the 24Hits to Top100 pretty fast after all, not even a year after 24Hits got implemented. That 24Hits system really took a toll on their users activity I think.

Can any Collab involving a kpop artist & a western artist be nominated in award show for Collab of the year if it has performed upto the mark?
I mean has it ever happened?
I'm curious abt this as well, I think this is a first time a Korean act featured on an International artist's albums, usually it's the other way around.

Seems like ITZY completely got overshadowed by ColdplayxBTS collab. No one really talk abt them here

anybody know what's happening on Melon today it's so weird
Itzy is already in the top 100 of melon top 100
and Bts x coldplay song is already out of the top 10 of melon
i didn't expect them to do really well since it's a collab but i never thought they would leave top 10 so quickly

Regarding longevity, id be hesistant to draw any conlusions when comparing songs released 2017 and onwards with songs released earlier than that.
2016 songs seems to have a pretty crazy longevity as well, If I'm not wrong there are around 5/6 songs that spend more than 70 weeks on Gaon from year 2016.
Perhaps that G-Friend song
After my quick search, for 2015 seems like it's "Justin Bieber-Love Yourself" with 88 weeks on Gaon or so. Don't know how accurate that is tho.
Edit- After my short research I come to a conclusion that
Kr soloist + Western singer >> Idol Group, in the longevity department. Even some Idol Group mega hits from 2016-onwards suck at longevity game compared to soloist & western singer songs.

At first I always thought they're on the same level as IU in terms of overall Digital Performance ngl. Esp since both of them have a pretty similar initial impact, kinda. Which is really impressive. But seems like BB are still far behind in terms of longevity.

Bang3x only charted for 43 weeks? Wow. Do you know whats the longest charting 2015 song on Gaon overall?

Speaking abt Bigbang, whats the best performing Bigbang song in terms of longevity, is it "Lies"? Is it still the biggest Bigbang's song in Korea till now?

Yeah girl groups also went two or three folds during the pandemic with online fansigns. I think Itzy went from 150k to 350k, Same for RV I guess.
I just think there is bigger possibility of a girl group selling 1m than a boy group getting a PAK. Coz even though Melon is now easier to top, Flo still isn't.
Is Melon really easier to top now? Always thought it's still hard to top the Daily Chart, only Top100 Chart is easier to top now compared to 24Hits. Either way song still needs to top Daily chart to get a PAK.
