i remember once watching a random yt video (around 2018/2017) where koreans were asked on the streets to pick their favourite girlgroup.

To my surprise, a lot of people picked oh my girl, and almost nobody picked big 3 ggs.

International kpop fans pay too much attention to numbers, sales and charts. Popularity sometimes just isn't only reflected in these things.

Oh my girl has always been a public's pick, their recent string of hits just manifested it even more. They will probably continue to be one of the ggs to have the longest lasting impact

I haven't kept up with mamamoo for a year so I don't know what she's doing these days. I bet she is still incredibly popular.

hwasa was an it-girl too. At one point everything she touched sold out, even the food she ate.

She def has a magnetic personality and therefore fits the discription of a traditional itgirls.

I'd say she had the biggest peak of an it girl among 3rd gen female idols.

Many ranks are interchangeable depending on what you value more and which year you look at.

Fact is for 3rd gen twice, bp, gfriend, mamamoo, rv, oh my girl, ioi all deserve a place somewhere in the top 10. People who go on length to argue who is 1st 2nd or 3rd are wasting their times cause these groups are all known and popular so it doesn't even matter.

But honestly, mamamoo, gfriend, oh my girl and momoland are the most impressive ones and one of the few groups whose popularity genuinely came because of THEM, their SONGS and their appeal to the general public, without any pre debut hype or pre debut fandom waiting to support them.. That's why i always like to favourize them in those kind of rankings even above big 3 ggs. Cause you know their fandom IS the PUBLIC.

Nowadays jennie is ahead of the other 3rd gen idols but if we consider their entire career span then no one had suzy level impact. The others on this list were just temporary trendy
