Twice, on the other hand, despite not hitting 1 million sales on oricon, they lead in streaming platforms and Youtube views. The only group actually competing with them is NiziU

I feel like the public is less interested in very technical vocal abilities nowadays. I don't think it will get better in the future. It also doesn't help that some of the best vocalists of the entire industry are still releasing songs to this day, so newer strong vocalists have less room. They also have a lot of time to develop, as some of the best 2nd gen vocalists were not born with godlike voices (maybe Sohyang she might).
Of course. Good vocalists are rarely appreciated in SK as they always worship distinctive and overly "feminine" vocal tones (IU, Suhyun, BAek Yerin, etc)
As for the good vocalists still releasing music. I don't think those releases are even popular nowadays, with the exception of Davichi maybe. Even Ailee has been flopping for years now
The reason why it will get even worst is because the industry is focused 100% on visuals and difficult dancing routines

Nobody is claiming you should follow the most competent vocalist here. There are groups more focused on vocals and others in rapping or performance or even visuals. I personally don't care about vocals if the music is good (Dreamcatcher or Loona for example)
This just serves as an instance to clarify some misconceptions that I see a lot when talking about vocals from new gen groups (which are average at best) and open a serious discussion about it
Also, people do visual rankings all the time but it's suddendly bad to do one based on vocal technique? (which is what they supposedly trained for so many years). I don't get it

Should be noted that when you talk about this topic, it is still very subjective and difference between tiers shouldn't be considered as hard. Also when trying that many artists, sample size are often very small so the placements are very vague.
There's little room for subjectivity when we talk about vocal technique
As for the tier names (which can be harsh) they really show the reality of kpop. Great singers are actually suuuper rare . Keep in mind that there are people like Sohyang, Joohyun (FinkL) or even Ailee who are miles away in terms of vocal deliverance
