The average what? The average idol? You know 98 percent of idols can't sing a lick.
There are tons of idols with better technique than Rose. I’m talking strictly about vocal tone here. Her overly nasal style is unique, I give her that, but sometimes it throws me off, personally

rak means realtime all kill so by definition it counts the realtime Melon chart and not the melon 24hour chart.
Melon’s real time chart is not a thing anymore so what’s the point of still using it as some sort of achievement?
-
She sounds like Shakira sometimes which is a little bit off putting for me
But overall I would say she sounds above the average in terms of vocal tone

What this have anything to do about loona?
One of their sub units is literally called Odd eye cirle

I already said it but my bet is that 4th gen groups won’t be totally mainstream in SK. They will have a couple of “national” hits here and there but that’s about it

the "mamamoo hype" isn't the source of her popularity both in sk/intl otherwise the other girls solos would achieve a certain level of attention and streaming which they're clearly not getting. whilst being in a successful group helps, for everyone it's ultimately whether gp/casual listeners are checking for you. there are plenty of soloists still in groups but ppl still don't care about their solos.
she'll always be attached to mmm whether she leaves or not, but her success is not dependent on it. many of her fans are actually discovered the group through her.
Most international kpop fans don't care about soloists when they leave their respective groups. She will do amazing in SK as usual but overseas I'm not really sure. It's a rough path. Currently Sunmi, Taeyeon and even Chungha have been losing a lot of hype lately
Whether you like it or not the Mamamoo brand gives Hwasa a big portion of her current spotlight internationally. There's a reason why so many people hate on her on twitter, and that's because there's people from other GG fandoms trying to take her down along with the other girls. If she goes completely solo and Mamamoo disbands I can guarantee the dragging levels will decrease exponentially
The only group that currently has a bright secure future as soloists internationally is Blackpink and no one comes close to that

Hwasa going with psy label for what pls ? RBW is not the best agency, but she is not the worst. Psy label don't deserve Hwasa at all. She don't carried RBW on her back with the girls all these years for goes to carry a new label. I have nothing against to Hyuna and Jessi but Mamamoo is more safe than these Psy label artist. I'm pretty sure Wheein & Hwasa will renew their contract.
Let's not forget that Heize and Crush are also under P-nation too

The real question here is: will she be able to maintain her popularity without the Mamamoo hype?
In SK easily yes, but internationally I don't think people will show the same type of interest for her if the group disbands. Maybe for a couple of comebacks but now even Sunmi and Chungha are struggling to get noticed
-
is it even worth it for ikon to renew contracts when they can't tour?

First the lighstick and merch similarities
now this

Also feels like Wheein is getting less and less solo promos compared to the other 3 girls. If she get a good offer from another company it wouldn't surprise me if she leaves the ship.
That's only because she doesn't want to promote as a regular idol. She's gotten plenty of individual work as a singer (probably more than Moonbyul and Solar) and the offer of a solo album (that she postponed due to health reasons)
If she doesn't renew it'd be most likely because she's tired of being an idol
-
if Hwasa leaves the company, my bet is she'll join P-nation
but still I lowkey want her to stay
-
it took me a whole while to figure out how to put a damn twitter link here

True, but it will be just a matter of time before NCT starts selling more albums/concert tickets and that will be pretty much enough to put them above RV/MMM

Tricky question. Of course it is very difficult to compare boy groups and girl groups. However, everyone seem to agree about Seventeen (and sometimes NCT) being above these two girl groups. And I tend to respectfully disagree.
Seventeen is a wall in terms of physical sales and tour numbers, sure.
However, both Red Velvet and Mamamoo are a wall too in terms of digital performance and public recognition. Having also two members with their faces all over South Korea.
Seventeen and NCT have huge fanbases but they can't match with the public recognition of RV and Mamamoo and they're pretty much mid tier groups outside their own fanbases. Even in Japan, where Seventeen is supposed to be big, their streaming numbers are not really impresive.
So which one is the bigger act? Are sales really that much important compared to digitals/CF deals and public recognition?

I noticed a big similarity between both groups: both seem pretty much unable to perform their biggest song (dynamite and cheer up) live without having a seizure on stage or a voice crack
Let’s all pray so this awful trend of high pitched chorus stays away in the previous decade for the sake of everyone’s ears
