Why is IVE even doing better than Big Bang in Japan with latest song?

  • I remember VIPs were bragging that Big Bang is big in Japan. They can’t even beat a 4th gen group after all the hiatus.

  • Wow, the clownery is strong. Guess BIGBANG still make people pressed

BIGBANG is a pioneer and a legend in kpop, good luck to all the groups to achieve their relevancy and to impact kpop as a whole like they did!

  • No idea. Love Dive is doing really well, but than again so did Eleven. Besides The Feels followed by Wadada Eleven was the best performing song for a Kpop GG since probably Feel Special so it goes to show how well IVE are doing in Japan.

Some stats for nerds based on current charts.

    Hot 100.

    Love Dive= 8

    Still Life= 41(peaked at 7)

    Spotify.(current daily)

    Love Dive= 10.

    Still Life= not in.

    AM. (current daily)

    Love Dive= 3.

    Still Life= 80.

    Line weekly.

    Love Dive= not in.

    Still Life= not in.

    Youtube Japan.

    Love Dive= 8(1.49m) peak.

    Still Life= 15(1.1m) Peaked at 3 with 2.49m.

Recochoku weekly.(biggest digital music service in Japan)

    Love Dive= 73.

    Still Life= 36.

Judging by the stats is seems neither song in penetrating outside of the fandom much at all, however the numbers show IVE have developed a fairly good sized fandom in Japan for now and will likely help them sell quite well and do larger scale tours in the future if they keep up the momentum of Eleven and Love Dive.

I think they are doing a lot better on streaming sites and kind of bad on Reco, Mu-mo and Mora since they are more GP driven and have less young/teenage users as well as no real way to use playlisting either.

  • Well, one more time for the cheap seats, it's a fandom targeted unpromoted digital single, versus a 4 option physical album.

But we're all currently pretending that promotions and physicals have nothing to do with the success of a project, I get it...

Pretty much this. A slow song with 0 promo is already doing great or are we pretending promos aren't important? Because even the top groups promote their songs, but suddenly BB needs to beat everybody when they don't even care, they just released a song.

  • One is paying for playlisting and ads views and full out promoting as well as a young fandom that do everything in their power to stream and support.

Not y’all acting like BB is a rookie group as well. They’re a group that is older than some IVE members iirc so a rookie group being this successful is actually impressive.

Never said they werent impressive, they are. The question was about their perfomance in japan versus bigbang, i answered it to what i know of it. And its not like either song are topping the charts in japan anyway (not unexpectedly considering neither song is in japanese to begin with).

And bigbang is still charting better on Recochoku.

  • On youtube IVE's peak is #1, not #8 lol.

What's more impressive is the numbers bigbang is pulling for a 15 year old group. Ive will be nobody within few years just like every girl group.

I should qualified it by specifying these are the stat's for the Youtube MV chart. I included the views in the post and assumed people would figure I was referring to the MV. But yes on the 'top songs' chart they peaked at number 1.

Tho my info was actually out of date slightly. I should correct my self, their peak at 9 in Japan was actually last week, this week they dropped to 12th(1.21m)

  • Not sure if IVE has this many fans but it's surely as hell that lot of trolls are using them to drag the groups that they hate. Token stanning in kpop is so ridiculous.

  • IVE are doing that good in Japan?? Hadn't expected it.

It's kinda surprising for a girl group that just debuted, or is it me?

Maybe because of the IZ*One connection?

If so, I expect Le Sserafim will do splendid in Japan too.

In Izone, Wonyoung is behind the top 4 popular member(Sakura,Minju,Chaewon,Yuri).

IVE's REI is a Japanese which probably did some help too?

I don't think anyone can beat Le sserafim in Japan. They literally just like I said have 2 popular members in izone. They are already secure safe spot in #1 in Japan and no one gonna beat them.

Minju, Chaewon and Yuri are more popular than Hitomi and Nako in Japan? That's surprising
