Okay, but what kind of influence do you want them to have ? I'm pretty sure they didn't become idols to be political figures. They DO have influences in their fields - music, probably the entire kpop industry to be honest, fashion etc...

They are trend-setters, and they do influence their fan's behaviour. I would also say that even thought they are not openly political figures, the fact that they are the most powerful GG since... I don't know, The Spice Girls, is kind of revolutionnary in itself. We are talking about an industry where fans can make a tantrum when they learn that their favorite girl might *gasp* have read a feminist book.

Also, literally no big BG or GG beside BTS is political. This is something very taboo in general in kpop - for obvious reasons. Especially for women, this can be a very tricky ocean to navigate, and I'm not sure the hate they would receive is worth it.

Doesn’t help that companies in general are so controlling with what idols can do/say - it removes that influence from the beginning

Oh sorry. I was looking for a simple term to say that the girls are controlled by their company (like what you guys have been saying all the time). I was trying to shade YG not BP but I guess it came out wrong, sorry again

I'm going to be honest. Most blackpink stans (especially, the ones that follow them on Instagram) only care about the girls' for their aesthetic. It's probably a big reason why Lisa doesn't even bother to write any captions on her post.

I saw a few older blinks' acknowledge Blackpink for their speech about global warming but for the majority of them (the young ones), they only cared about how pretty Jennie looked in the video etc.

Blackpink just doesn't have that image that translates to influence in important topics. I blame YG for that.

Let's not act like any Kpop acts are influential in the general scheme social change of things. Yes even BTS with their fans, if their message is actually heard there won't be petty bullying or clapbacks and dragging other idols by their fans on a daily

they're plenty influential in their field, do you mean politically? because no idol group or artist is politically influential and it's naive to think so.

Why wouldn't they be influential they're BP.

I think the word you're looking for is for influential but political or "promote a cause" type thing which is completely different.

Hell one of the most oft used insults BP gets is that they are "SNS Influencers" and "Insta Models"

I mean how can you be insulted as an influencer then turn around and not be influential?

Unless you're saying they're bad at being influencers but i suspect harpins, e-girl hairstyles, modern hanboks and the like disagree.
