In my humble opinion, it would've opened up the competition and let lesser groups shine and not have total domination which does get a little boring. I'm for everyone being able to have a go and being allowed to display their talents.

Hard to say. I think it would certainly affect the level of popularity and perhaps less people are open to Kpop girl groups. Maybe ITZY or aespa don't exist the way we know them because Blackpink was absolutely engineered for the West. Once BP took off, it gave the industry a blueprint on what actually works for the western audience in relation to girl groups after prior generations failed to crossover.

That said however, I think BTS is such a juggernaut that K-Pop fever still reaches the west just not as ridiculously high.

Kpop would be oversaturated with cute concepts and there would be no DDDD, one of kpop's iconics

Logically, I don’t think K-pop would be as international as it is now. BTS would still remain untouched, but BP’s success is reassurance. It’s not a one time fluke and that there is something there that can be replicated to success.

Girl groups in general probably wouldn’t embrace girl crush in the same manner. GC always existed, but a lot of lower girl groups were very influenced by TWICE’s bright sound in that period. Mamamoo were girl crush but not in the same area as BP/D4. They were influenced heavily by retro music.

Fashion in Kpop has definitely changed as well. A lot less uniformed looks. Every rookie group debuting with a label fashion deal. BP’s influence on girl group fashion was certainly the most since SNSD and their different iconic uniformed looks every comeback.
