[No spoilers] I went to watch The Batman today

  • and HOLY SHIT it was a masterpiece. 3 hours of pure bliss, i am never going to stfu about it. i cried at least 3 times during the movie, around 10 minutes in the parking lot and then all the way on my way home, it is a miracle i didn't crash.

Robert Pattinson is THE batman, he is the godamn fucking batman, my batman and the best batman. fuck Ben Afleck

@ all the whiny little men that couldn't stop bitching about Robert Pattinson since the casting was announced, the joke is on you :cryingr::cryingr::cryingr:

  • I watched it this morning too on release day. I'm not as ecstatic. I think the movie was too long, especially the first hour. The mystery around the murders is not so mysterious imo. The connection between the victims is obvious. The film lacks wow moments; I didn't get the chills at any point.

So there were a few good moments, the cast is good but overall there's nothing groundbreaking imo. I expected something punchier. The PG13 rating didn't help.

Oh and the ending in Arkham asylum, I thought it was a bit embarassing. If that's the way they want to go with this villain, I fear it translates poorly on screen.

the movie was more psychological in nature than just pure action or detective work or mystery. That's why there wasn't enough of the latter three. it was more about the charachter growth. besides, this IS batman, it has always been like this. batman was never about pure action or mystery.

and saying the connection between the victims was obvious is a lie imo. it only became obvious @ the 4 victim

They're all important people in the city. It's not like they were random people with no apparent connection whatsoever and Batman has to connect the dots. It was obvious the murders had to do with the corrupt nature of Gotham; it reminded me of the Court of Owls in a way. Then when we actually found out about what's going between them, I was like "okay, sure, it's quite basic".

It's not just the lack of action per se that annoyed me. I agree Batman's evolution and growth is interesting. But it's a bit too little spread over too long. I hoped I would be as engaged in the movie as I was when watching Batman Begins back in 2005 but I wasn't. Maybe it's just personal taste though.

  • The movie was great, my friend low key wanted it to flop to see 🦇🐓

But I’m glad it’s doing well as this is one of the few movies that actually had the same impact similar to Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man had on me as a child.

Rob’s presence throughout the movie is insane, he truly manifests as vengeance and fear.

  • I liked the movie a lot but tbh it disappointed me how little of Bruce Wayne we saw...

he was in the mask 95 percent of time..while it is understandable because well he is the Batman, I think the balance could have been much better like in the Dark night movies

  • I agree! The movie was spectacular. I don't care if you don't like superhero movies...maybe just not the DC Cinematic Universe...but it's definitely worth watching. It's definitely time-consuming and though I also feel like the movie was too long in general, it's definitely worth sitting through, whether it be when it arrives at home or at the theater.

Such a good movie. Probably the best DC Movie released in a while.

Isn't that great? It is different from The Dark Knight trilogy... I don't think we've ever got such a long period of Bruce being Batman on-screen....

    I love Pikachu.

    Always have, Always will.

That's because we have never got the batman being a detective, in past movies - even the dark night trilogy no matter how I love it- he was always either a fighter or billionaire playboy extraordinaire. Which is what makes this move the best batman movie to me, it finally shed light on the batman's detective side.

That being said, I think we got a fair bit of Bruce Wayne, everything considered.

I bawled my eyes out @ the scene with Alfred in the hospital :pepe-sad:

  • hmm I prefer seeing the actor act tbh

Rob is really good and I think it's a shame we couldn't see more of his acting skills

Actually i think i saw more of a great acting with the mask on than mask off... Rob conveys very well with his eyes... Especially in that Interrogation scene with The Riddler.

    I love Pikachu.

    Always have, Always will.

    Yeah that was good

He can act well even with the mask on but I still think it could have been a bit more balanced

I haven’t seen it yet (planning to soon) but I have an opion about Bruce Wayne not being in the film enough.

I feel Bruce Wayne isn’t really interesting as a individual character. At his core he is a rich guy that pretends to be something he’s not (happy, aloof, play boy,), his real ideologies and motivations are as Batman to clean up the city. Nolan Trilogy sheds light on Bruce’s trauma and some relationships but at the end of the of the day the plots revolved more around Batman and his actions - Brice trauma as a kid made him become Batman, his entire company funds Batman, Batman is a symbol of justice and so on. At times Bruce’s stories can boil down to foundations for Batman’s stories rather than us wanting to follow what Bruce is going through.

Compare that with Marvel where the identities are the heroes. Peter Parker is Spider-Man. All 3 iterations of movies are essentially about Peter’s life and Spider-Man is an extension of himself rather than a true alter ego. We as an audience love Peter just as much as we love Spider-Man and we want to follow Peter story. In the MCU that’s been the structure since Iron Man, we love Tony Stark and we follow his adventures as Tony and Iron Man. It’s not 2 different characters, it’s 1.

So imo I think it’s good idea to drop or lessen Bruce Wayne side of things. Keep Batman as the main character and make Bruce the alter ego and make him show up when he needs to.

  • Nope. You'll be surprised to see how interesting this portrayal of Bruce Wayne is.... It's different. Even though he appears in like 10% of the movie... Bruce Wayne really makes up for a fantastic character. I can't wait for them to explore this in sequels.

    I love Pikachu.

    Always have, Always will.
