I watched Marvel Eternals

  • I went in kinda expecting to not like the movie since a lot of people were complaining about it but I kinda enjoyed it?

I think it is kinda slow because of the whole backstory and finding all the other Eternals when Ajak died, or the whole history of how they protect Earth, and there is less action compared to other Marvel movies but I didn't mind it since it is the first time we are being introduced to them.

Also, can I just say the action scenes were so good? I love how everyone's powers are unique and played out differently in combat. Seriously the fighting scenes were amazing, Bucky Ikaris felt more superman than superman himself. Makkari's superspeed with her sonic booms were so fun to watch seeing the actual impact of speed rather than the whole "slow-mo" sequence they usually do for speedsters. Thena's fighting was so amazing Angelina Jolie absolutely nailed it and Phastos technology fighting style I love it. Sersi was amazing too her powers are so unique.

I really hope they bring back the dead Eternals because it's such a shame to lose 3 of them. Even though Ikaris is the "villian" he isn't exactly one it's just his moral compass being confused and I kinda feel for him, and eventually he chose love instead. Also, not Don Lee sacrificing himself to save his wife in Train to Busan, and also sacrificing himself to save Thena in this movie my heart ;(;(;(

  • I watched it on Disney + the other day, fully expecting to dislike it since I had disliked every single character after watching the trailer, but I actually had a pretty good time. They all came across as incredibly cocky and altogether unlikeable in the trailer, but that isn't how they are acting in the movie at all. The trailer really didn't do Eternals justice.

Is it among my favourites? No. But it was a solid, fun movie and I wouldn't mind seeing these characters again.

  • I think it was enjoyable and doesn't deserve as much criticism but there deffo were problematic parts

for me the most offputting thing was that there were too many characters introduced at once with little time to shine and I didn't give a damn about any of them :wellr: it would be more suitable to make a series out of this

  • It's good that you at least enjoyed it a little. I didn't have any expectations for the movie. It wasn't as epic as some of the more "mainstream" and popular Marvel movies, but how it plays a small part in a bigger story is interesting. I personally like how Marvel Studios keep digging in the crates (i.e. "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "What If...?) to give some of the more obscure Marvel characters time to shine.

I don't think it would make sense to leave Ajak and Ikaris "out of commission" after Sersi being shown what they really are. I can't help but be curious about what happens to Sersi and Black Knight's coming into being.

I think it's a cool coincidence that Gemma Chan went from being a robot created by man (in a UK series called "Humans") to an android created by a cosmic entity in "Eternals"; that's a hell of an upgrade!
