I like the web toon in the beginning but after some time the FL started to get really shallow and the whole Sejun/Suho thing dragged too long. Also the beginning message or the message that I thought it would have started to get less and less important. I read a lot of webtoons and True beauty just goes nowhere :c

BOF and PK are cringelords though lmao Even though I am in my 20s as well I am a sucker for some easy going romcom. I also really like “she was pretty“. I really like the lighthearted atmosphere even though I am definitely out of the age range where you stalk your crush or think something like the F4 is cool... let’s better forget that era of my life

I haven't read the webtoon and I agree that it feels old school, but sometimes something nice and fluffy and tropey is what you need. Hallmark built a very successful TV channel on that thought. 
I thought the main leads all did really well and had good chemistry together. It didn't reinvent the wheel, but I thought it was great.

Yeah, but he wasn’t the worst part of it. All the extras were yikes and this is different for true beauty, a lot of the jokes don’t get lost due to the weird timing or bad acting by the extras. It’s quirky but not too much. It’s just like a lot of very popular K/J-Dramas from 2005-2014 that were the perfect mix of romcom, slapstick humor and romance

i read it first when the webtoon craze exploded but i couldnt get into the plot from teh get go

The the plot was very cartoonish but I guess it was on purpose. Her “ugly” makeup was a bit exaggerated lol.
And tbh, the whole drama would have ended after the first few episodes if she just did better skincare instead of spending so much money on makeup which actually worsens skin irritations.

Yeah her “ugly“ face wasn’t good but better than what most dramas do. It’s really hard to find a bad looking or average looking actress in kdrama (‚lookism‘). I like the cartoonish character since it’s for highschoolers and is a cute easy going drama.
Cha Eunwoo‘s acting isn’t the best. That’s true, but I am always open to improvement. Even though he should stick to either side characters/roles or roles similar to this one for future kdramas until he improved enough.
About the webtoon, I don’t want to hate the author but it seems as if the whole plot was about herself and her insecurities and now that she has reached a certain celebrity status it feels as if she doesn’t feel connected with it anymore. That’s just an assumption ofc but Idk, it’s sad how the webtoon turned out.

Agreed, the drama reminds me more of Japanese shoujo romcom mangas while the webtoon is or could pose as the pilot for a lot of shoujo/josei romcom webtoons (except isekais)
I loved True Beauty I feel so bad for Hwang In Yeop's character! I really wish he was an idol, he has an incredible voice in that drama, and he's so amazing!
