Netizen Who Accused APRIL's Naeun Of School Violence Admits To Lying And Apologizes

    Back in June 2021, APRIL‘s Naeun was accused of school violence by a netizen. Her sister had vehemently denied the matter on Naeun’s behalf. On January 7, 2021, DSP Media announced through the official homepage that the accuser had admitted to lying and submitted a handwritten apology.

    It has been acknowledged that the accusations in the post were false and after confirming sufficient evidence, it was submitted to the investigative police and the police concluded the case. The accusesr was deemed as having spread false information and charged for slander, to which she acknowledged it. She will be charged with the help of prosecution support. The accuser is reflecting on her mistake and showed her continuous wish to apologize to Lee Naeun and she personally wrote an apology which was conveyed to Lee Naeun. Lee Naeun has accepted the apology and decided to drop the charges. We wish to tell this truth to the fans who have waited for her unchangingly for a long time and supported her.

    DSP Media emphasized that they will be taking strong action in the future against the spread of falsehoods and rumors. The accuser’s apology acknowledged that the post she had uploaded was all false and that she is not a victim of Lee Naeun or school violence. She claimed to have been jealous of Naeun. During elementary school, I had been quiet and did not have much of a presence, compared to Lee Naeun who got along with other friends and was always bright and lively so I was jealous and felt inferior to her and ended up writing a post which detailed matters that had not actually happened and have no relation to any truth. I caused harm to Lee Naeun and her company through my huge mistake. I know that even though she settled with me, my mistake does not disappear. Through this matter I have realized that a small lie can cause huge harm. I’m sorry. — Accuser

    This is not what ruined her career, APRIL bullying Hyunjoo as a group did, but this situation which turned out untrue affected her reputation as well. It solidified a lot of people's opinions on her.

    She really should sue for defamation.

    If suing works, we wouldn't have idols career's destroyed over fake allegations because companies would be suing everyone left and right but they chose to suck it up. For some reason I think once they 'apologised' it's gone case.

    And at the same time we wouldn't have victims silenced either because it's so easy for companies who have money to sue for defamation over true allegations that can't be proven so it's a double edged sword

    Is that set in stone? Bc I don’t think Hyunjoo is the innocent part. I think their relationship just went sour and every insident has two sides.

    Okay, APRIL allegedly bullying Hyunjoo, but I trust Hyunjoo. Innocent until proven guilty, yes, but she's proven enough for me. I'm not gonna slam or attack the members for it, but I believe they've mistreated her. They've proven themselves to be extremely unempathetic towards her and her suicide attempt and that's enough for me to see which kind of people they are. I'd rather support her than them. I don't think they're the innocent party.


    Edit to add what I've forgot: I forgot to say that I don't believe everything is APRIL's fault. I think their agency allowed for them to have a toxic work and life environment, and did nothing to stop it. They weren't treated nicely during their debut in general, and were overwork. That doesn't excuse what happened. Somebody who says 'oh, but your suicide attempt really inconvenienced us' right after finding out it happened is not a good person in my eyes.

    APRIL lied a lot in their statements in my opinion. First they tried to make it seem like they were the best of friends, but when fans debunked the photos they used to prove it, they suddenly claimed the feared Hyunjoo? Make it make sense.

    At the same time, Hyunjoo remained nothing but consistent, kind and empathetic towards everybody. She didn't seek out to destroy the group.

    I agree with the agency critique. They could hsve nipped this in the butt😃.

    But if the other members were accused by her brother and this if I was in the group I’d be a bit whut too.

    I mean it’s group mentality I guess to defend yourself. But that bring said bullying is such a big part of korean youth and you just have to be on top of it. Thr agency probably thought only about money and in the end they have nothing so maybe they should have resolved it earlier.
