Yeah, they shouldn't have used one that had any backtrack (other than harmonies). I get doing it during a dance performance, so there's some coverage if they lose their breath while moving, but when it's a performance like this it actually backfires because it makes it more obvious when the singer is ever so slightly off pitch. They would have sounded even better without it.
