Ageist ifans wrong about underage trainees/idols again

  • There's been a lot of backlash against underage idols in the industry. Particularly from ifans who like to baby them and say "kIdZ uNdEr 18 sHoUlDnT bE iDoLs". Yet contestants in My Teenage Girls and other U18 idols have proven they are more than capable to perform as professional idols. These two trainees from MTG killed this Monster cover and got 4/4 score from the judges. Even Irene/Seulgi could learn a thing or two from their acting and facial expressions.

One of the rookie idols who quickly trended a lot is Leeseo, maknae of IVE. Koreans who are are casual followers of kpop took notice of her and she's getting a lot of views on her fancams.

What they all have in common is that they are 14 years old. Obviously since they are still underage they should be protected and have more reasonable schedules, yet they can still pursue their dreams and earn a living. Unfortunately this generation that claims to stand for equality and tolerance are so openly hostile to people older and younger than them. It's open season against older fans, saying a lot of insults against them. And they want to push underage idols aside. It's no surprise, since most ifans are in their late teens/20s, so they discriminate against other ages.

  • You always make generalizations about fans. I have not seen a majority of fans saying the young trainees are not good enough.

Please provide sources of a large amount of ifans saying that they aren't talented enough or don't deserve to debut or being "openly hostile".

If you do not respond to this post and provide those sources, your argument is invalid.

I left my heart in LA again. Please continue taking good care of it.

  • Idc if it's trolling, it's not ageist to not want too young people to debut. It's not about their talent, it's about protecting them from predating eyes and an abusive industry.

I'd consider it similar to child actors. Child actors still exist but adults have to be responsible for their safety.

  • I think it does concern professionalism, rather the bad industry standards (beginning with sponsors, health, stress, pressure by the public) that are not child friendly and are not appropriate for children. A lot of idols are not investing enough into education or enroll into these idol schools where they are not learning anything at all.

  • Idk about u, but I wouldn't want to subject MY child to an abusive industry at like 13... do u genuinely think people want to see underaged kpop idols try to be sexy on stage??? NO!!! go open that textbook!!!

BoA was 13 yo when she was shipped to Japan and SM built kpop on her back. Now she's a Director at SM. Obviously this kind of job is not for EVERYONE but I don't think those who are capable should be barred from doing what they want

I see you haven't responded with ANY proof that what you said about fans is remotely true.

Thank you for admitting that this is your opinion only.

okay that's good for her but she was a child. what she's doing now has nothing to do with her back then. most if not all idols who debuted young said they regretted it and wished to finish school first. it's weird that u wanna see underaged kids suffer on stage

I agree to an extent (and of course there are exceptions) but they have parents for this reason. They don't need fans to tell them what they can and cannot do. If their parents support their dreams and encourage them to be an idol, despite being underage, then who are we to be against it? We aren't here to protect idols. That's the responsibility of the adults in their lives.

EDIT: I want to add that I definitely don't support sexualizing underage idols, rather I'm saying it's not up to us to dictate when they can or should debut.

The thing is that it's not YOUR child. Do you guys think these young idols are debuting without permission from their parents or an adult figure in their life? I'm sorry but no. It's not our place to say who should or shouldn't debut and when.

hmm I don't know about this one chief . . . . since you know that some parents want their kids famous

like do you know Park Hyeon-jin

"Wow, I am the Only normal one here."

sure, but that's not healthy for a child at all. that's just bad parenting. the child's mental and physical health comes first before anything. they do not need to rush to become a trainee and debut there will be companies waiting for them when they graduate high school

Child acting sucks. If you know anything about that industry, it can fuck you up a lot. It's not uncommon to see child actors from say Disney or Nickolodeon to grow up with issues.

  • its not about capability, its about the stress that comes with this job. being under the public eye at such a young age is not good. along with that, the stress is a lot.

nothing against under 18 trainees though. if being an idol makes them happy and its something they really want to do, there is no reason there should be people trying to stop them.
