I can't speak for non-Chinese stuff but
Journey to the West (86 version) is definitely the biggest drama series for China
There is literally no Chinese person that has not seen it and I bet my 26K akorns on it

Meteor Garden was so iconic. Everyone and their mothers know this drama back in the early 2000s. It was the first drama adaptation of the manga Hana Yori Dango that I know of and I think it's the most iconic one (along with boys over flowers) don't know much about the others.
