Apparently YG is fishy... Hyunhee shares a story about how they say "goodbye" to trainees

  • damn that's not a normal thing to do, there should be some proper conversation

those are young kids/teenages they have feelings, they ain't robots...

I won't spoilt it, just watch it guys and decide on your own

    it starts at 15:50

  • What exactly is the issue? She said they told her she wasn't a fit and not to come in anymore. What do you want to company to do? Hold a farewell party for every trainee that doesn't make it?

    she learned it later

the problem is they cancel class

she even said that trainees were expecting this might happen

so I bet kids were hella nervous

that's not healthy system it would be even better to lose spot in group due to being weaker in 1 to 1 battles or team A vs team B battles like we see in survival shows,

    not something like that

imagine being prepared to go to dance or vocal class, you going there after whole day in school and then baam you learn that your class got cancelled which means you are out...

  • The whole kpop industry is so abusive towards children and teenagers with this whole “you have to be stern and toxic to get perfection“ and scares these people for life. Imagine a lot of idols that debuted have mental health issues due to these circumstances, but it must be worse for those who get trained under the pretense of being good enough and then thrown away like a used toy. I don’t know. That this is better than other agencies just underlines that even the worst is better than what we do not know

  • In my opinion it is pretty normal/what you expect when you get "fired". But I would have preffered them to be more friendly.

But these are kids and not adults who know their own value and can live with the consequences (or should live with them). Also here in my country - except when you do very big offenses, you can’t be fired that easily. This is really inhumane. They should make feedback talks and alert her instead of letting her like “yeah, bye“. Firing someone is never nice and sucks but these survival shows show how bad the industry is. Almost every participants of these type of shows and ex-trainees tell the story and it is lowkey depressing that these people get told so early that they are basically “worthless“. A lot of these participants seem to have problems with self-confidence and feel as if they have to debut or else they wasted their time or failed in life. This is so hard to grasp when 18 year olds, say that they have failed in life. This is mostly due to the fact that these industries try to gaslight these kids into thinking that this is their only career and that they cannot do anything else. That’s why you have a lot of idols or trainees that have dropped out of school or do not speak about the standards until they are much older and realized how toxic the industry is.

    Sorry for the rant lmaoo

  • I can’t think of a way to tell someone they are out without it hurting their feelings.

No matter how they would have told her, she would have felt hurt anyway.

If you think this was already to harsh, then she better not become an Idol. The Idol industry is harsh, this is just trainee days, it gets harsher once you debut.

  • The mental strain this kids go through is insane the fact that they have to split themselves between studies and training is difficult in itself they have to go through mental abuse as well cuz we all know how this trainers are the kindest people, the fact that some of this trainees never get chance to debut is even more sad i know that becoming famous and rich is the dream of a lot of people but damn it's too much

They did that, they told her why they won’t keep her and she talks as if that class canceling thing is the way that company eliminates trainees. She even talks as if she saw it coming.

“ If the class gets canceled on the day, it means I can’t go to the company after that… everyone was expecting it and my class got canceled on the day”

She already sensed it, I guess they gave her feedback before that, but she herself already knew she didn’t improved or impressed enough.

This actually sounds pretty mature to me. She doesn’t sound hurt or bitter, but remembers it as something in her life that didn’t worked as planned, but she is there so I guess she didn’t gave up.

  • She seems pretty hurt. Idk - she even has to stop at first before she continues . This definitely doesn’t seem like a “well that happened“ story. The entertainment industry is known for using young people‘s dreams and naivety of them. Let’s not overlook the fact that adults can deal with these things much easier than children that only do this the whole day and mostly define themselves over these training periods. The whole idol system is also much worse with hierarchy and conservative power play than the “normal“ industries (e.g. blue collar jobs) and that’s very telling.

Of course she was hurt at that moment and it’s not a positive memory, but no matter how they would have done it, she would have been hurt cause she’s out.

What should they have done? Keep her as a trainee forever but never make her debut? At least they didn’t wasted her time the moment they knew she isn’t what they are searching for. Believe me there are far worse ways companies deal with trainees.

I know the industry is hard, but not getting a job etc is part of life, not just in the entertainment industry, but in the normal job market too.

In order to be an adult that can deal with rejection, you have to learn how to deal with it. It starts as a kid and teenager. Shielding teenagers from these situations will turn them to adults who can’t deal with such situations. It’s not just because you are older you automatically can handle things better, maturity comes from experience.

  • That’s not true. Teenagers can deal with a certain extent of rejection but this industry is abusive. It’s mind blowing how people turn a blind eye on this obvious status-quo. It’s not the rejection in itself that is the problem and that‘s what I am basically saying. It’s a synergy of the whole nature of this system and the way they deal with their trainees. It’s a fact that this is not appropriate for their age. Bring someone from the childcare system there and they would run as soon as possible due the outrageous status-quo. I hate the argument that children have to live through these systems in order to “be an adult that can survive rejection“. There are different ways and the sheer amount of serious mental health problems related to this industry and training system show that it is not a way of teaching these kids. I was never an idol and had to be treated this way to experience dissatisfaction and to learn that not everything comes without effort. So, this whole argument just ignores the underlying problem.

    I don’t get you

Trainees get rejected and search for another company right away until they debut in another. YG was the company of her choice, so she was upset that it didn’t worked out there. She is hurt cause she couldn’t stay even though she wanted too, and not because of how she got rejected… Feeling hurt from being rejected is inevitable but part of life you can’t protect someone from this. If you wanted something so badly but couldn’t get it, even giving a flower bouquet with a huge “ILU Goodbyemessage wouldn’t have been enough to not make you feel hurt.

Yeah the Industry is abusive, but I’m not turning a blind eye here, i just don’t see abuse in this case. And just because we know that the industry is abusive doesn’t mean that every case is a case of abuse…. Rejecting someone because you think they don’t fit what you are searching for is not abuse… please

I can feel you are passionate about this matter, but I don’t think this case is the perfect example for it.
