Interscope Geffen A&M is a combined umbrella label group owned by UMG which combined the three labels (although the still operate individually)
There was probably talks of which label they’d go to Geffen/Interscope like Olivia or just Interscope.. they probably choose the later to not split up more money.

They are under Geffen, which itself is under Interscope. Hybe also has a sub-label deal with Geffen.
i hope they do a better job in promoting and distributing for them than columbia, i mean the bar is low.

I know nothing about these things, the only thing I want is for them to have better distribution (and prices in Europe!) and not having them meddle into their work (aka force on them a corny boyband image, english singles and credits etc).

Cause well even with just a JPN release in Q2 (since they were already under UMG's Japan branch for their jpn releases) BTS was UMG's biggest money maker in Q2, ahead of Justin, Olivia who had full albums roll outs.

Their JP albums and singles are distributed by Def Jam and Virgin, both of which are owned by UMG.
BTS is now signed a distribution deal Interscope/UMG.. they join Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, Kendrick Lamar, Lana Del Rey, Olivia Rodrigo and of course Blackpink!

I mean it makes sense Universal Japan manages their Japanese releases already.

As per Variety, which went into details, they are under Geffen. Olivia Rodrigo is the only other big name under Geffen. Geffen itself is under the Interscope umbrella.

Hybe had announced about forming a sub-label with Geffen months ago, so its obvious BTS is going to be in Geffen
