2NE1 started the "weird high-fashion" trend in K-POP, along with Big Bang. They might not look like tyical luxe "pretty" or "fancy" to the typical viewer, but that's not the point; they were all about making unique individualistic attention-catching fashion statements and starting trends.

Which they succeeded in doing, and even succeeding in catching high-end fashion designer Jeremy Scott's eye by wearing his clothes, and he eventually became CL's best friend after meeting 2NE1.

Whether you like it or not, their costumes WERE designer clothes and their 1st World Tour New Evolution even had costumes custom-designed for 2NE1 themselves by Jeremy Scott, who had his own brand is now the Creative Director for Moschino, and even had custom 2NE1 Jeremy Scott x Adidas Originals sneakers which were $400 a pair.

Now all of K-Pop is known for it's colorful and unique wacky fashion that gets attention, and that's one of its signature points. Nothing more "high fashion" than being the trendsetter for a whole genre of music. :P

k-pop styling is kinda bad in general sometimes. lots of good outfits, like april's dream candy era dresses, jennie's red solo dress, blackpink's modern hanbok dresses for hylt, loona's styling, and snsd's japanese MV styling and so on, but most of the time, it pales in comparison to what c-pop & j-pop idols are wearing. j-pop idols have flawless, color-cord styling that is (usually) very cute, frilly, and stylish. c-pop idols (from the VERY little c-pop i've been exposed to) seem to wear a lot of modernized traditional clothing (which is BEAUTIFUL, my jaw drops everytime i see SING's outfits) that looks really good.

i also have no idea why some 2NE1 stans are getting so defensive & name-calling in the thread. it's clothes. not everyone is gonna like ur faves quirky, i'm-so-edgy-and-different 2000s fashion. like most things....style is subjective. it's not that serious.

I loved their outfits 'cause of how quirky they where. Not necessarily stunning, but different.

Their punk girls era is still my fave of all time in terms of GG fashion.
