Multinational Kpop group concept is a failed idea.

  • What do all these groups have in common?
    -from nugu agencies

-not invited to music or variety shows in Korea

    -few to none korean members

-majority of the lineup are foreigners

    -rushed training(3-6 months)

    -bad planning

    -bad management

    -little support from Kpop community

I was naive in the past and thought some of these groups might work internationally. Now after seen several attempts with the latest Beauty Box that falls in line with the points I made, I hope we won't see more of these type of groups. Despite me being a bit happy for the debut of the first vietnamese Kpop idol from Beauty Box. But these nugu agencies are wasting money and time from young kids across the world, giving them false hope of a utopian world of multicultural Kpop.

  • The main problem is that nugu labels are the ones doing these. If Hybe came out with a multicultural group, it would be a guaranteed success. If JYP stuck in a white, black, or brown trainee in their new GG, the GG would still be a success.

My prediction is that the 5th generation of Kpop will see the first non Asian superstar idol as well as the first openly gay idol.

let us gather around for the lord’s prayer:

Nævis we love you. You are the one who protected me when i was in trouble. MY victory, one SYNK DIVE. I know your sacrifices. Let’s meet surely after the resurrection.

    Æmen

  • The issue is it comes from nugu groups, not so much the concept. Z-Project is the only one who had a decent budget too, and even then they didn’t promote like usual Kpop groups

If a bigger company did it, they’d pull it off well

  • Oh too bad I thought it would be sooner

But I'm really curious to see how it will turn out :froghype:

Also I just realized this thread is forgetting one group. Same here

  • Why does this reminds me of a Japanese company that literally took girls who apaeared on "The Voice" in their European homecountries and to make it look Japanese they trew in the only woman of a disbanded girlgroup that didn't left the company

  • That's why I am excited for Iland s2. They're opening audition in SEA too. I hope there is someone from there will pass the audition. Beside, those groups you mention are all from small company so even they're debuting with all korean members, it still difficult to succeed.

  • YG Thailand is recruiting for trainees. The application closed on Oct 31.

I disagree. "Foreigner" should not be a concept. Similar to the case of (G)I-Dle, foreign trainees should be chosen for being best trainees at hand, not just for being foreigner.

The show "My Teenage Girls" (aka After School Excitement) also did global recruitment. You can check out the result. They are few foreigners of Korean ethnic and that's it.

I am sorry but I don't really enjoy any mbc survival show. Other than that, the hype behind that show is underwhelming, it is hard for them to succeed. They are overshadowed by Gp999 and Iland s2. They will be another group that fit under this thread category.
