I was wrong about The Feels

I do think The Feels can appeal to Western audiences but it's not like TWICE is changing their sound and image completely to do that. It still feels very K-pop more than western pop, and I love that. It's nice they are being themselves.

I thought it was really good actually. Twice's non-Korean songs have been superior lately.

As nice as it is there's no logic in them singing a song for the kpop audience in English. Confusing release from head to toe.

Bring back and promote your original sound in a language it wont make an impact in but in the markets the fans/public will appreciate these releases the most we'll stick to more mature releases. The logic does not compute from JYPE.

First listen, it didnt catch my attention because there are lots of catchy parts besides the chorus that I need to pay attention too

But.... Second listen is all I need to know that this song is a BOP. This is my type of song

Have to politely disagree. I think singing in English helps them connect with international audiences. Audiences that don't normally connect with kpop music. And certainly, for international people who are already fans of TWICE. An English song is a pleasant surprise for them.

Anyways, not like their Korean or Japanese releases will be going anywhere. Fans and public that already like those kinds of songs know where to find them.

International audiences being international kpop fans i.e. fans that wouldn't be listening to kpop if they cared about songs being sung in English? What non-kpop fan audience is a quintessentially bright kpop song going to appeal to exactly?

For your last sentence - the whole point I'm making is the public and their core fanbase in SK don't like the mature songs Twice are putting out for Korean releases.

I'd prefer them to gather an audience that likes their music and identity for what it is than cater or change their image to fit. Yes mature TWICE is still very much TWICE as bright TWICE, but they shouldn't have to hide or change that side of themselves either. I think some international audience with no experience to TWICE can take to this, but of course we need to wait and see how it performs.

How would they be hiding or changing it when a mature sound will give them a bigger and better platform in the west, which will then naturally be a gateway for more fans into Twice's music? Surely debuting with a very bright quintessential kpop song is hiding their mature side then which has dominated their last two years?

There's a reason it's not common and why non kpop fans from the west hold certain prejudices against the genre. What does giving Twice a risky sound for their debut in English achieve.

They've been putting out mature music in Korean for a while now, putting out something similar in English isn't them changing or catering to anyone as they've been dong that for two years.

I just said that both sides of TWICE are very much both TWICE, but the brighter side is still an important part of their identity, and they should feel proud to show it to west.

Anyways they shouldn't feel the need to just "show their mature side" to the west just because it's the west. The brighter side is still them, and it's giving the western audiences a something not as common there. I think this can catch interest.

I'm not going to spend hours arguing in circles with you. Let's just see how the song performs before making judgements, okay?

honestly though, I feel like none of the groups that released english singles completly changed their sound to fit in with "western" pop. Cause I like most english singles and I hate most western pop these days lol.

I loved the feels since day I was too much on releasing an English single but it’s catchy and and still twice

I do agree the feels sounds like a good kpop song but it’s not a material destined to the USA market if JYPE wanted to push them in the west they should have released a mature song like cry for me it’s a dumb move

You can like a song but think the logic behind it is misguided, jype's creative direction is indeed all over the place

Not the type of song I'd listen to every day because I prefer a different genre now but it's super cute and I love that the girls are staying true to themselves instead of putting something different out~

I understand there's too much frustration but this one is for fans who wanted the old twice back and feels concept is pretty safe to try for twice with their current concept and the retro trend. Twice is not really trying to target west like b*s and blackpink. Jyp just wants that hot 100 debut for twice so they can have that one crossed off from their bucketlist.

A majority of fans that want the old Twice fans aren't English speaking fans, if anything they've shown they prefer Twice's mature side and that's what has bought them to this point in the last two years. I don't think it can be put in anymore layman terms.

The fans that will buy multiple copies to get this on billboard won't care what concept it is, but the impact on streams (a component of billboard charting) is impacted already just through song choice alone. This is the first Twice title track post-Fancy to not debut on the US Spotify charts on the first day, an indicator of popularity from the less hardcore fans.

If JYPE were serious about Twice in the west and looking to grow them there I don't know why they'd choose this song. I'd rather not think it's just a gift for English speaking Twice fans as that makes everything about the announcements at the end of the video feel even more ominous.

After i heard the feels my first thought was they should have kept it for the Korean comeback. Icsm and cry for me r way more suited for the western audience. They kinda wasted cry for me's potential.
