Do you consider Next Level the ‘Gee’ of this generation?

One on hand you can't really determine this until after a few years. On the other hand it is until another 4th gen release surpasses it

Gee was internationally much more visible than Next Level. I see Next Level rather like a Cheer Up

I don't think next level did to aespa what gee fix to SNSD tho, I don't think any song compared to it (no not even cheer up)

Gee was huge in Korea (I didn’t even say it wasn’t?) but it was also one of the front runner songs of the hallyu wave back then. People who didn’t even like K-Pop knew Gee since it went viral. Next Level is popular but not as much as Gee internationally. Gee is as comparable as I‘m the best. I would even say it is more known as I‘m the best. It is as comparable as Fantastic Baby or Sorry Sorry

Nah, you can't say stuff like that based on charts, even less when they work differently nowadays. There have been many massive hits and majority are forgotten after the first couple years

I would probably say yes, just based on the impact from teenagers to younger generation They will view Next Level how older people viewed Gee etc

The relevance of gee is unmatched by most gg hits till date.

Next level has very done well so but not in the same league as Gee, way to early to compare the 2

Gee was revolutionary. It changed the game the moment it was released, next level didn’t do anything. K-pop went on and we went on with our daily lives. It’s doing well on the charts but it’s not no Gee or something big in this generation. More girl groups are doing High Teen concepts, doing high school concepts, pandering to the west and songs on that latter. Don’t see companies taking notes like they did with Gee.

NL is great but Gee is a game changer.

Next Level is by miles ahead the biggest 4th gen hit but Gee was a game changer. It is the most successful 4th gen song though and its popularity will be hard to surpass by any other group.

I think people are underestimating Cheer Up a little bit here, top girl group song of the decade and entered the cultural zeitgeist in Korea, from election campaigns to Hollywood stars being asked to do "shy shy shy".

It was much more difficult to have longevity in 2009 for hits than 2021. I am not putting down nl because not all hits chart as well it is. Relevance wise it's not close to gee. No need to use aespa to troll gee. Lol.

Yeah so many longevity records that stood for years have been beaten recently, it might be harder to get to the top of the charts now, but once you're there you stay much longer than acts used to

Dare I say even Tell Me didnt have the same impact Gee had, sorry. No one will compare to Gee.

But if ure saying Gee as in the representative kpop GG song on its generation, then i think NL is that song it pretty much opened 4th gen groups to general public. And it's not like NL wasn't recognized internationally. Afair, it charted longer (or equally) than AF on billboards.

They arent, at least not melon which is the one people refer to the most. It's not a coincidence we have so many recent releases breaking longevity records. Other examples would be dolphin or lovesick girls. Btw I quoted the wrong person for some reason lol
