I think there should be some organization that have guidelines and rules for agencies about Idols 'housing'/dorm

  • Don't you think there should be something like that?

Let's take a look at sports, for example in UFC there are sports commissions in each state, and they are doing drug tests, as well as health checks to make sure that those whose injuries ain't healed yet ain't available to fight.

Now in football (or soccer for some of you) there are rules made by UEFA known as Financial Fair Play, or in USA in MLS they have salary cap.

There are also multiple other rules like those who are U-18 for example 16-year-old players which move to foreign country they need to live in home with kind of 'foster parents, or in a dorm with other young players, but there is security, coaches, teachers etc.

Whole world have some kind of rules, for example you can't built skyscrapers near some castle because city council/regional government bans 'tall' buildings in in this area.

So shouldn't there be some organization that will prepare guidelines for idols dorm/housing? Like m2, a number of sleeping rooms, bathrooms, the quality of the interior, if it ain't good then must have renovations, etc.

  • Definitely. This is where labels used to cut costs. It's criminal to a local like me to cram in 3-4 kids into one bedroom. It's INSANE. Imagine trying to sleep with 3 other people in the room??? You're tired af after 16 hours training and then you have to deal with 3 other people coming in and out of the bedroom, waking up at different times especially since they might have different schedules, etc.

Max per room should be 2 people, like a college dorm. At least 2 bathrooms for a unit that houses 4 people.

even 99 girls in Girls Planet 999 have 3 people in the room, and each room has its own bathroom...

so for a group it should definitely be max 2 people in room, no bunk beds, unless members would prefer bunk bed to have more 'free' space in room...

and yeah good point with bathrooms, if hotels can have so called single rooms with bathrooms then why dorms can't?

one bathroom for 2 members is also ok I guess

example: ANS had dorm in Sinsa-dong in Gangnam, which obviously is luxurious area to live in, but the cost was so high that after about a year group moved to Gimpo, and girls revealed that per member they had like 8 USD per day for food and other things...

and the company quickly had financial troubles... it all ended with some crap that 8 members left, only 1 stayed and re-debuted in smaller group with much cheaper mv's...

here is how ANS MV looked

look it's not like rookie groups have 3-4 comebacks per year, usually they debut and then after 6-8 months have first comeback, so for those two-three weeks of promotion they can easily travel from bit far away dorm located in cheaper and calmer area, it would be even safer for them to live in this kind of environment...

  • every city and municipality have their own guidelines for housing, example minimum square meter per person, maximum occupancy. There is no need for extra rules, companies just have to follow those.

Putting 4 or 5 members in a 2 bedroom place might meet that criteria, but companies who stuff 9 to 12 people in 3 bedrooms should be reported.

  • problem is this would never work its difficult for normal everyday koreans to find decent housing so unfortunately you will continue seeing companies cram 6-9 people in 2-3 bed room apartments
