“Filler member”

  • I honestly hate this term with my entire soul. Cuz like who are you, me, or any random to determine who is or isn’t worthy of being an idol?

If the company felt they were necessary to add to the group, THAT’S IT! You don’t get to discredit someone for living their dreams simply because you don’t like them

Which btw, that’s exactly what filler member means. Filler member = I don’t like you. And if that’s the case then just say that

But I never understood the obsession with seeing someone who chased their dreams, finally achieved it by debuting, and then some knucklehead behind a computer board sitting like “Umm they shouldn’t have debuted, they’re a filler member”.

Like it’s giving hateraid. Just don’t stan them dafuq

  • Filler member usually means a member that isn't very talented at singing, dancing or rapping. They might be decent, but the other members are better and overshadow that member. Obviously they still deserve to be an idol because all idols work their ass off. But I still wanted to describe the term.

  • "Filler member" seems like such a bad term anyway for what people mean. "Filler" implies they're just hanging out in the spot, while, IDK Michael Jordan's off on the sidelines recovering until he can swap in again. Considering kpop groups range from duos (e.g. 15&, Akdong Musician) to 21+ (e.g. Apeace, NCT), it's not like companies are sitting around going "aw, geez, I really want to debut these four, but I'm not allowed to!"

I kind of feel the same way about "visual hole." If the company really thought they were so hideous, they wouldn't have debuted; companies know what they're doing, and part of what they're doing is understanding that everyone they select will connect to part of their target audience. Take even a group as big as NCT, and even a forum like this one, and all the members will be selected as at least one person's favorite.

    let's be friends

It still doesn't count because usually, those members end up being the biggest Stan attractors in their groups at least that's what I've noticed in fav groups.

  • Whoever thinks there are filler members just don't understand that every group member has role to play either on or off stage or both.

  • Filler member is another word to say untalented. It's mean but when I ventured into K-pop years ago and heard this term I won't lie I had a second thought. Some of these members are just there.

To this day I see it but even with that mindset, filler members do contribute to the groups. K-pop is more than singing, dancing and rapping. You have to do the whole 9 yards. So having a variety of members that bring other talents to the table apart from the major 3 is what a K-pop group is in my opinion.

Anyway, there's a lot of K-pop terms that are really offensive like visual holes.
