Not quite accurate. 6mix wasn't tied to Twice at all, but only 4 members in Twice were supposed to be in 6mix.
Originally it was 3 of Twice (Nayeon, Jeongyeon, and Jihyo) with three other trainees (including Minyoung who was in Sixteen).
After one of the trainees left JYPE, Sana was added to the lineup.
The debut and project kept getting delayed and was ultimately cancelled.

I do think they could’ve gotten far in the US seeing as Lena, Cecilia, and Minyoung were from the west and were fluent English speakers, and prob still would’ve done well in Japan with Sana being added
Def makes you wonder how they would’ve turned out, but I do think Twice would’ve been the better outcome since they became Nations Girl Group and sold more than double of any other active GG right now consecutively

Yep, and they switched the direction for Twice in Japan and Korea. I think that Itzy became their 6mix in this way because I think they're more focused on the Western market.
