Dark Concepts or Bright Concepts?

  • Which do you prefer? I like darker ones myself.

  • This is such a hard question to answer for me personally. I love both concepts, if executed right. It depends on a lot of factors for me.

For example, SHINee is a group I love both concepts for since they can execute it well, same for BTS and TXT.

Groups like Dreamcatcher I wouldn't like a bright concept, and for SNSD I wouldn't like a Dark Concept. It's such a hard thing to explain, so I hope someone understands what I'm trying to say in this mess of a post

No, that completely makes sense. Some groups are just more suited for one or another.

    • Official Post

Just from a purely concept stance I like dark concepts on girl groups and bright concepts on boy groups. I may not always be a fan of the music that comes along with them, but I'm a sucker for both.

  • i’m a bg stan so bright concepts are always appreciated in my household because of how much of a rarity they’ve unfortunately become. this probably why i like txt. the do a bit of both but mostly their concept stays in the neutral territory. the song is always sad and emo but the music videos are completely opposite lol.

with darker concepts, i only like them if they’re executed well. like if you hit me with shirtless boys wearing tight leather jeans and grabbing their crotches i’ll probably head out and not look back. ever. that’s just cringe to me sorry

but perfectly executed dark concepts are EVERYTHING

fake love is the sh*t even three years later. perfectly executed and a cultural reset with how it literally set the trends with their style.

  • It highly depends on the song. I usually prefer dark or sad concepts though.

  • If I had to answer without thinking, i'd say bright

BUT Bright/dark is such a black and white view for concepts. I can enjoy both when done tastefully.

For the "dark" ones, I'm mostly interested when it's emotionally charged or when the instrumentals are interesting.

It's easier for brighter concepts, especially with girl groups, to get me but I like when it's funky, when the choruses are well done.

  • To add, I can like comebacks that really are "dark concepts" but they have to commit to it, to their theme.

Pentagon's Dr Bebe is a fitting example:
