Do u think songs r viewed differently when they become more successful or aren't that successful?
Do you think people change their opinion on a song based on its performance on charts often?

Pretty sure some do. But I don't, if i don't like a song, I don't like a song. If I like a song, I like a song.
Edit: Now that I think about it. If a song comes from a big group and didn't do well as a previous one they get called flop even if they technically aren't. Also if the song tops the charts the song might be called generic and stuff.

I do think some people are influenced by a song's/group's popularity. People conflate "popular" with "good" all the time.

A song sounds odd to some but after it does well some start calling it generic. Anything with mass appeal is called generic.
-
They shouldn't. But some people just listen to anything that's popular and others hate everything that is popular. So, in the end, it does.
In this very forum we have many examples of people saying song A is better than song B just because A charted better than B.
-
Some people do, yes.
Quality sig btw.
-
Of course they do.
-
yes
the most recent example of this is Next level '-'
everybody was criticizing the song for days for being a big mess who didn't sound good
and when it started to do well in the chart a lot of people suddenly had a change of heart
don't get me wrong i love more appreciation for Aespa
but i do think that a lot of people are attracted to trendy, successfull things
and they would have still criticize NL nowadays if NL wasn't successfull

Some people start disliking a song because it didn't end up doing well. Even if they praised it.

This can go 2 ways. Like one user mentioned popular songs can often be called generic. But also sometimes they are called good. This depends on the act.

This is true. NL's success has reduced its negative reception.

I only see people claiming bots are making the song rise
-
Yes, for ppl that are watching charts daily.

Depend on the chart watcher i think. For some its a hobby . If u r on a forum or social media its very easy to get data about song even if u aren't a chart watcher. And stans on forums and social media r generally interested in such things.
Hot100 year end? U have many year end charts.

Many probably do. It's pretty common to like what's trendy in general and I don't think music is an exception.
I've got to be honest though... When I genuinely hate a song and it becomes a hit, it usually makes me dislike it even more. Not because I want to see the artist fail, but because the song is suddenly everywhere, forcing me to endure it over and over again.
It's why listening to a song until it grows on me doesn't work for me either. I just get really annoyed.
-
Some might but really, it’s only limiting their awareness to some quality music that doesn’t chart well due to a lack of exposure rather than quality.
