I just had a sudden thought like at what point is a group no longer considered nugus?
is it different from BG v GG v soloists?
selling over XYZ albums? charting above ABC position?
getting a cf deal?
When you get a hit song. Until then you are nugu to the gp
For kpop stans it is when you do higher than average according to their standards.

When they start triggering fans of popular groups

If I see on variety shows, magazines, or ads with some frequency, I guess it's not nugu anymore.
100% nugus for me are the ones who can't even go to TV music shows. Even very small company groups can get their name vaguely known among music show watchers, so for a Kpop fan, I'd say if a group can promote consistently in TV shows, it may be enough to not be nugu independently of success. However, overtime a group can become nugu again if they stop promoting.
By this forumgoers' standard, maybe getting around top 10~15 of whatever ranking consistently. People may only look around this range (probably they may check just top 5~7). For some they tie it too much with success IMO. For me it depends more on reach and impact of their promotion.

real nugu groups aren't even called nugus because people never heard of them so they aren't even talked about.
This term is mostly used to discredit a group someone dislike which have achieved enough for kpop stans feel the need to talk shit about them. It's use is more derogatory than objective.
