Streaming is the way folks consume music nowadays that's why
Selling CDs is still very much important & huge tho

Their concept is too hard to understand?! LMAO. Either way, it's nice to see things working out for NCT.

Yet some say things like “SM spends millions on mediaplay”. If they have 0 hype then it’s a good thing.

NCT are truly a case of study tbh, they are for sure a successful asset for sm when talking about profit but it really makes me question how relevant album sales are becoming. Like using bts as example, they sell a lot but actually have streaming numbers on all platforms and recognition to back up their sales. Polar opposite to nct which are now nearing 2m but nearly nonexistant on every chart. Their bulk buying is on another level
-
the only remaining unit that will do that is 127 and a whole group cmb which I doubt it will happen as sm already doing that hollywood thing and getting trainees for their new bg out of nct. And this is bc 127 and dream have their own fans which obv dont transalte to wayv bc a difference from unit to unit of more than 1m is not normal

people love hits, and kpop fans specially love and hate when they can stan a group that gets clout in korea
there is reason everybody was on omg, brave girls, momoland and ikon when their hits happen

Maybe they don't have hardcore streamers? That's another possibility too.
More number of fans who are buying but not all of them are STREAMING like crazy.
Look at Stray Kids,
Their streams are crazy for a 3 year old group, even better on average than NCT but their fandom ain't as big as NCTzens. Just saying

I think that is because sk got some mainstream recognition (among kpop fans that is) last year with god menu which is why their streaming numbers are now higher on average despite smaller fandom.
I mean if you are sm & jyp am sure they would rather have the group selling 2m cause that's easy profit and much more than the ones with better streams, I'm just saying it's getting more and more difficult determining real music consumption due to bulk buying. Like nct might sell more than exo but we both know which group is miles ahead in the impact they made
