And because JYP has total control over it, he brought her back for her dancing skill

just to add to the explenation, all the girls were split into groups of 3 and the audience in attendence could vote which one they liked best. One girl from the group with the least amount of votes had to be eliminated by JYP afterwards. He personally liked the performance of Momos team and could not understand why the audience voted that way and I think there was Chaeyoung and Jiwon apart from Momo in that group. In hindsight he should have elimiated Jiwon, but at the time he probably saw more potential in her as Momo was struggling quite a bit during Sixteen

Another theory is that JYP already knew that Momo was debut ready and already planned for her to be part of Twice. In that final group of Momo, Chaeyoung, and Jiwon, he wasn't entirely sure of Chaeyoung and Jiwon yet and wanted to see them improve more. So he cut the one contestant he already knew he would be bringing back anyway.

Also if anyone reading is curious, Tzuyu was also "eliminated" in that she made it to the finale, but wasn't chosen as one of the final 7. However she had consistently topped the fan polls and JYP realized she had something that the fans loved and wanted so he added her too and that's how we ended up with 9 members of Twice instead of 7.
Sometimes JYP doing whatever the hell he wants pays off!

to also add to this, Twice was originally meant to be a 7 member group and after all the eliminations and promotions happend in the last episode, Tzuyu and Momo were not part of the group at first. JYP then out of nowhere announced that he will add 2 more members and said based on popular vote Tzuyu will be added (who apart form Chaeryoung (now Itzy) was the only remaing contestant that was not eliminated offically yet). Than he started talking about how Twice is missing a member which exceeds in great performances and while probably everyone expceted Chaeyroung to be added, he suddenly called Momos name who was standing in the audience at this point.

I personally doubt this theory (planing to eliminate and revive candidates on the spot seems a bit far fetched), but I'd love for JYP to one day reveal the truth about that whole Momo situation..

Both round 1 and round 3 of Sixteen were solo performance or 1 on 1 competitions. In each case Natty beat Momo. Then in the group round (where they were in three or four person teams) Momo was grouped with Chaeyoung and Jiwon. Their team placed last and one of those three had to be eliminated. That's when JYP chose to eliminate Momo.

like if JYP had added or removed certain other members how it would have affected the majority of entire Kpop GG dynamics like
if Somi was added - what would have happened to IOI
if Chaeyeon was added - what happens to Izone
if chaeryeong was added - what does Itzy look like...

And this is pretty stupid. Tzuyu gradually climbed the voting chart over the course of the show. If her appearance was the reason she would had been 1st after 1st episode.
Consistent improvement, charisma, attitude and lastly appearance won her place.

I think everyone knew Chaeyoung would for sure debut at that time of Sixteen because she was literally the only rapper in the whole show.
