why is itzy going for a friday release?

i’ve only heard of groups opting for friday releases when they want to chart higher on the billboard charts in the us because of the extra tracking period but itzy have never charted inside the bb200 or hot100. why is jyp perusing the west when the girls still have a long way to go? not to mention, a friday release will effect their music show wins in korea i think

if i recall, bts’ first friday release was after ly: her and dna charted really high, breaking all records. itzy going for this this just doesn’t make sense to me

p.s this is no shade to itzy. i really love them which is why i’m extremely confused with the company’s decision

itzy are pretty popular in the western kpop community but they should’ve focused more in korea for the time being. the western advancement happens naturally... but oh well, i hope they achieve what jyp has them set out to do

I think they need to have ITZY debut in Japan first but I think because of Niziu they can't debut them there yet. I mean from all 4 gen groups they have the potential to blow up in the west. Will see how that works out.

at the moment they release it, if he think that they can chart and have enough momentum he should gor for a release friday

NCT never charted on BB200 until they release regular-irregular

and they release it a friday a lot of people criticize them for doing this and going for western validation even if they never charted on BB200 , turns out they did it this time

i think they have an enough strong fanbase to chart on BB200 if jyp want to make them comeback friday

I think they are doing that because their Western fanbase has grown while on hiatus since Not Shy a lot and they want to adapt to their release schedules

We will see if they fucked up or not... I do think they can probably chart on bb200 for 1 week, hot100 is doubtful even with friday release. This will hurt them for music show wins tho, cause only 1 and half days of tracking but perhaps they don't even consider them as something that relevant (I personally think they are only relevant for rookies)

Itzy is the JYPE group for Western Market that's all. They try to push them on Western market for this reason.I would also prefer if they can focus on Korean market and SEA but JYPE want US money

They're obsessed by US market i don't understand why. They'll just obtain CA drama and other things like that on Twitter.

I don't think companies now care much about music show wins anymore.

Monday release only helps winning Korean music shows, nothing else. If the song is well-received, it will chart for a long time. Longevity is what matters more now.

So it's not bad to just try something different, let alone America is still JYP's wet dream :-D

Well, considering Twice is having a Friday release this week (that some ONCE aren't happy about because it supposedly blocks them from some award shows or something?) and are from the same company, maybe it will happen one day to Itzy too...

hot100 is not easy to crack into, i don’t even think they made it into the bubbling under list.

but the good thing about their friday release was that the got great spotify streams and an album debut on the 200
