Will Taeyeon and BoA be the only real successful SM female soloists in their entire history?

I think Seulgi could be a successful soloist but so far it's only BoA and Taeyeon

Well, Aespa is relatively new anyway, so they have to build themselves up before thinking about solos. I wouldn't say they wouldn't be successful though.

As for Red Velvet, Wendy's solo debut has been performing fairly well. So I wouldn't call it unsuccessful at all. Again, she is new to the solo game, but I do think she can definitely build off of her debut and gain more popularity. Joy's collab with Crush on Mayday performed well. So I could see future activities for her to be successful. We'll have to see what happens for the other members, but I do think they have great potential.

aespa is 4 months old, a little early to make a prediction that far out lmao.

They need to debut Seulgi or Joy. Being a female solo is hard and considering visuals tend to be more popular than vocals, the most popular members are almost always going to go into acting, not singing.

why is aespa included they just debuted a couple of months ago?

I can see Joy being their next successful soloist, purely based off of how well her ost did. Joy has the fanbase and the industry insiders on her side

It will be hard to compete with the legacy that BoA herself has created, she did many firsts for K-Pop.
Tayeon is also a legend in her own right.

If anyone becomes a Soloist - I'm sure they will do well, due to SM's GGs are iconic anyways.

There's a lot of factors that go into being a successful solo artist. I do think Wendy (obvs) and Seulgi/Joy have good careers in music at least, and Joy should do OSTs if she doesn't want to be a soloist, her vocal tone is very popular. I know you're shading, but I do agree Taeyeon's popularity is a rare case (came with many years of hatred and backlash too back in the day) but artists like Sunmi weren't initially expected to do well as soloists, but did very well because of a combination of factors. I'm personally just so sad for Luna, my f(x) bias... Being a soloist is harder than it looks.

Taeyeon is definitely one of a kind Bc you don’t usually see the main vocals as someone who fits the Korean beauty standards so well (even if she did ps). Her voice is also heavily loved by the gp and she just has the it factor.

I think it’s too early to judge. While I don’t think anyone will get to Taeyeon’s level, it’s not inconceivable that there will be another strong female soloist: Aespa just got here and RV is only just now really branching into heavier soloist work. Ask again in a few years.
