In the past, idol trainees from China, Japan, Thailand, Taiwan, etc. hoped to one day make it to Korea and debut in a kpop group. Those days seem to be over. Now that cpop grew into a bigger industry, a lot of these foreign trainees are looking to China to make it big. The answer is simple, money. Even if they don't win a survival show they have a chance to cut out own niche because the Chinese market is so big (that's what Lana is doing). The Lisas, Tzuyus, Sakuras of yersteryear are a thing of the past. Some former SM trainees went to join a China idol survival show for next year.
