There's this weird contradiction with kpop stans that I will never get. One minute it's "Companys should treat their idols better" than the next minute its "My faves were basically homeless at one point or my Oppa collapsed on stage at this one event your faves don't deserve the success they found because they didn't go through this". An idol will literally almost faint on stage and their some fans who will be like "look how professional they are I'm glad they kept on performing" like wtf????? Kpop stans preach for companies to prioritize their idol's physical/mental health but when they are treated and have to miss schedules or go off stage early their suddenly "privileged" or "unprofessional" basically what happened to Jennie. Their the same ones spreading videos of their idols collapsing on stage and many of them are like "They almost collapsed on stage and are so tired yet they continue to perform for us their so hardworking ". I just hate their hypocrisy can we just stop
Can we please stop glorifying struggles?(Rant)

People go to any lengths to glorify what they love. It's weird, I agree.

We should be celebrating the companies that treat their idols like humans, not idols surviving being abused....
-
when an idol performs while injured or sick and fans call it "professionalism" yikes
-
That's true

Tbh, this is something that could be observed in everyday life, not only in the kpop realm. Everyone struggles in some way. And the bigger the struggle, the bigger is the satisfaction for the one that succeeds despite all the obstacles that they have encountered on the way. And imo this is something to feel proud of. But yeah, it's freaking annoying when people start playing the "I struggled more, therefore I'm better than you" card. Some individual might have the privilege to struggle less down the road. But it shouldn't be a reason to undermine their achievements.

I agree :)

in my opinion the idea that kpop stans have that success as an idol should be "earned" through struggles is stupid. if someone is talented idgaf if they were a golden spoon with industry connections, their talent justifies their job as a celebrity

They enjoy seeing other people suffer

-
Nahhhhhhh. That narrative helps get my faves over.
-
I completely agree.

i won't talk about struggles on stage or whatever but struggles to get to where they were should be applauded
groups (which i won't name) which have struggled to get to where they are and succeed should be applauded and that should be the only type of struggle to be applauded

hihi, this was realy one of the weirdest things for me when I got into kpop. Everyone would claim their faves deserve this and that more than anyone else because of their sturggles.. I always wonderd what if the people saying that would do if they had any idea of the struggles all the groups go through, especially the nugu groups that only get to eat shit and never get the chance to shine
