ROSÉ joins BoA to be the only K-pop soloists to receive the Presidential Commendation from the Korean Popular Culture and Arts Awards.

  • TBH, talking about female soloist, there are some other names should be awarded before her.

Kim Wan Sun and Uhm Jung Hwa both have far bigger impact than.

  • In Korea, the President >>>>>>>>> the Prime Minister.

As far as the grand scheme of things is considered, the Singer who Undermined KPop whenever she could had zero accomplishment outside of Korea, and her very presence proved to be a huuuuge detriment against KPop's advance to the world.

  • TBH, talking about female soloist, there are some other names should be awarded before her.

Kim Wan Sun and Uhm Jung Hwa both have far bigger impact than.

Whether KWS and UJH had a larger impact is debatable and UJH also had made a name as an actress.

However, it cannot now be denied that all of them had a bigger impact than KPop's Greatest Freeloader.

  • It's not logical, tho, because IU has a massive impact globally as well. I mean, for the love of God, she's the only female soloist who sold-out her World Tour and only Suga has the same numbers, and she was sold-out her tour faster than the so called BIG3: BTS, TWICE and BLACKPINK. Also, she's the only Idol ever being nominated at the Cannes Film Festival for her movie, and this is just two examples

Nobody is denying that IU is a really successfull artist

But i don't think selling out a world tour is one of these big impactful thing that let you win this type of culture award

Also being the only idol nominated to cannes isn't a big impactful thing

    It is for kpop fans

But on a culture pov it would be really impactful if she was the first korean actress to be nominated or the only

These type of award don't take into consideration if you're an idol, a singer or an actress it's just the cultural impact that you had

So, you wanna convince me that "APT", a song about drunks, had more impact than IU's 17 years of solo career?

    In the west ?

    I would say Yes 🤣🤣

You're talking about a korean artist that won Song of the year at one of US music award ceremony

Which i'm probably not wrong to say not many achieved this and not IU either

Like i said this award is rewarding korean people who made a big impact internationally

Rose had a big impact in the US and in the worl thanks to the success of APT that went way above the kpop niche fans and reach everybody

I love IU and i have a huge and deep respect for the career that she have and her longevity

And i'll never question her success as an artist

But she just never did a big impact internationally to say like Boa and Rose that she deserve the president commonation

She had the prime minister one which is already great

  • I'm pretty sure both ranked the same level, or the Prime Minister is the higher

Please David make some research before commenting something

Korea doesn't have a constitutional monarchy like UK or Canada so no the prime minister isn't the head of the government

Korea is a presidential republic so it's the president that is the head of the country and the head of the government

So in korea the president is higher than the prime minister

  • The Presidential Award is much more significant but an official order is even bigger

Roseanne Park , MBE , already received such from the King of United Kingdom

That aside, it is a fitting denouement for KPop's Greatest Freeloader. She leeched on KPop's international success without contributing anything to it , and now she is pushed aside officially. It is like a grandaunt, who was cranky and demanding, shown the door, and the 1,352 years old is already spending more time acting than singing.

  • I hate to be the devil's advocate but I'm pretty sure he means the "same" award in the sense that they are both Commendation awards.

FINALLY! THANK YOU! Can't believe you're the one who understand it.🤣

I was sick for days, so I couldn't argue with people for long. Man, my mental health was much better, tho. I highly recommend people to leave AKP Forum for a couple of days.

My comment is not an IU vs Rose vs BoA. It's not about them. I only said, all of them got the same Award, and they're not the only female soloists, btw.

Yes, BoA and Roseanne Park, MBE were honored because of their foreign achievements

Which means KPop's Greatest Freeloader was not honored because of her complete absence of foreign achievements.

Your batteries must be tired of saying the same thing every day.😂

Please, show me another female Kpop Idol who has stats in the West like this. I'll wait! Let's not ignore the fact that she's doing this alone after 17 YEARS in this industry (and her FIRST ever US tour), and not as a member of a mainstream Kpop group with a massive collab.

  • No offense for asking this, but are you drunk? It feels like you are.

" i don't think selling out a world tour is one of these big impactful thing that let you win this type of culture award"

Selling out World Tours literally means you have a huge impact everywhere! Isn't that what popularity stans always argue about? You can't sell tickets if people don't care about you. The demand for her tour was insane. People wanted her to do stadium tours in the US.

"Also being the only idol nominated to cannes isn't a big impactful thing It is for kpop fans"

Are you insane? Do you know what Cannes Film Festival is? It's basically the most prestigious film Award. More important than the Oscar. Not many actors can say they were nominated, and she's not even a huge name as an actor in the West.

"You're talking about a korean artist that won Song of the year at one of US music award ceremony"

Load of bullocks again! I like Rose, but her song was nominated because it was a collab with Bruno, and everyone who want to deny that is crazy, I'm sorry. You said, Cannes is not important, only for Kpop fans as if Kpop fans know anything about it, you're the prime example. Meanwhile, you're praising the most ridiculous American Music Award, the VMAs. Even American artists make fun of it for years.

Also, this was last year on Billboard that many Kpop fans love to use as an example of how big their faves are in the US.

"Which i'm probably not wrong to say not many achieved this and not IU either"

Another nonsense! I mean, you're right, not many achieved this. But you actually know the reason why? Because 99% of Kpop groups/soloists don't promote in the West, and they don't have Western collabs. Simple as that. So, it's not really an achievement if you don't have any competition.

"But she just never did a big impact internationally to say like Boa and Rose"

What I said here: Rose or even BoA did this? No! End of story.

Please, show me another female Kpop Idol who has stats in the West like this. I'll wait! Let's not ignore the fact that she's doing this alone after 17 YEARS in this industry (and her FIRST ever US tour), and not as a member of a mainstream Kpop group with a massive collab.
