And no, it has nothing to do with my former war against Army as Blackpink's bravest white knight. I will never go back to those days, watching what BP has turned into, and comparing them to how amazing Twice and even OMG have been after 10 years together, has made me give up my Blink sword and shield forever.
But i dont know what Hybe is thinking putting their two closest fanbases and groups together like this. It's a NO WIN SITUATION. There is a reason every Kpop label is smart enough to not mix their active core GGs and BGs together like this.
MANAGING RISK IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF KPOP ECONOMICS. And putting these two together is like pouring gasoline over a fire.
If the song does great, the two fanbases will be at each other's throats to take credit and downplay the other.
If the song does bad, it will be HORRIFIC. The two fanbases will devolve into a massive civil war with each side blaming the other for the floppage.
And it's not just actual fans doing this. Smart antis of either group could easily stir up all kinds of shit with setup tweets and posts on social media.
Plus something random might happen that's not even about the charts. Some stupid innocuous misunderstanding that gets blown up out of proportion and sets the fandoms against each other.
What is the point of this collab anyway? BTS will have a HUGE comeback in six months most likely. LSRFM is doing fine rehabbing their image in Korea and still doing great internationally and leading in their most important target market, Japan. There is very little benefit and just WAY TOO MUCH RISK.
