Do you think Rei would be as popular as Wonyoung and Yujin had she debuted at the same time as them?

  • She trends so often for her visuals or just being herself and created the ribbon pose that even Gigi Hadid replicated, she is the second k-pop idol to be in the cover of Vogue Japan after Blackpink Lisa, she is credited by both vogue and Elle for being responsible for the trend of stickers in IG photos, etc

There's many other examples in this thread on twt

I genuinely think she would be able to rival Wonyoung and Yujin in popularity if she debuted earlier like them, in fact I believe all members would be able to do that but Rei specifically just have something about her that people are drawn to her effortlessly.

Changed the title of the thread from “Do you guys think Rei would be as popular as Wonyoung and Yujin had she debuted at the same time as them?” to “Do you think Rei would be as popular as Wonyoung and Yujin had she debuted at the same time as them?”.
  • I think having the iz*one boost helps an idol a lot. I think Rei would have thrived in any situation because she's a very good idol. I find it interesting how she was able to stand out in a group that includes Yujin and Wonyoung.

IVE is a very talented group and I think each member brings something to the table. I think the non iz*one members have been able to create a brand for themselves. I was worried the group was going to be Wonyoung + Yujin and friends, but the were able to build themselves up

  • No, she wouldn't because there was Sakura, Rei's only claim would be being Japanese and she'd never compete with a number 1 AKB48 Center.

Though I'm not a Sakura fan, but she worked her ass off to get to the basic level of a Korean Company Trainee.

Huh? Did you read op? Sakura have been in the industry for a whole decade. Rei debuted only 3 years ago and managed to create trends that even non-korean celebs followed. She's not even in her full form yet.

Sakura's popularity has lasted more than a decade meanwhile "trends" don't last more than a few months at best. There is MASSIVE difference.

  • Learn the difference between trendsetter and trend first

    I literally do not care.

Sakura has built a decade+ long legacy throughout her career meanwhile Rei has made trends that will be swept to the backroom exceptionally soon once better trends arise. Lke I said before, there is a massive difference between both of them. Being a trendsetter isn't necessarily something to base your popularity on because, like I said, trends don't last long and Rei should aspire for more than just creating trends.

I'm not even sure why you're trying to compare them to each other.

    I don't understand why you're so mad

It's a fact that rei is a known face for only 3 years while sakura has been around for 10+

I stated this fact cause it literally made zero sense for that other person I replied to compare these two. They're both japanese idols in the k-pop industry but because of the career gap, there's no way to know how rei will be like in the next 7 years.

I'm not mad, I just dislike how you're highlighting the fact that she's made trends as if that is peak popularity.

Rei is one of my fave IVE members and I most certainly do not want her to be reduced to be nothing more than a trendsetter because I want her to be recognized as more of herself and her talents lol

That's what I meant and I'm sorry if I came across as rude.

Why are you pretending that to create trends you don't have to be influential and popular enough lol. My question was if she could be at the same level as Wonyoung and Yujin, and they're both popular and Wonyoung in specific is very influential and have a whole lifestyle that young girls follow called wonyoungism, so it's fair to use the fact that Rei is a trendsetter to illustrate her reach and potential. I'm not the one who brought Sakura, I just answered the person who brought up Sakura. Stop derailing the thread, I literally don't care about her
