By my numbers here, an idol group hasn't topped the Korean charts since late February

    We're about to be in June. If the streak doesn't end in June, we can cement 2025 as the worst year in K-Pop in the past decade easily. It would even top 2019.


    Even if you want to look at things qualitatively instead of quantitatively, though I was silenced for two weeks, I was observant. And many of you have lamented the top groups' best music being behind them.


    I hope June brings bangers, because if not, it's time to start writing out the obituary for 2025.

    Only IVE, ILLIT, LSF is surprising they didn't have a chart topping song. i-dle is a slow-burn most of the time, and the rest are not really chart rules anyway. Some of them only released Anniversary Singles, or they're rookies or nugus.

    I think it depends on who you're stanning. For me, as a Stay/Alpha/Nex2Y/TiiiKiii, it's been a good year. Now, for whatever reason, I notice I dont see Stray Kids making the Korean charts, i guess they're still somewhat seen as the Black Sheep of Kpop due to their "noisy" music style, and XG being a Japanese girl group promoting in Korea, and also having music that's not purely "pop", I'm used to them getting somewhat ignored lol. But I can see what you're saying, it seems there hasn't been any real breakout/stand out music for some of the more well known groups. But if you're ARMY (which I am but not for their music, at least their old stuff, but them as a group is just so funny and precious), we're about to be drowning in non-stop BTS de-enlistment news lol

    5th gen boy groups showed some promise but smothered themselves with Riize being a deeply wounded sole survivor. Most 4th gen groups have been annihilated or relegated to the conveyor belt of irrelevancy. 5th gen girl groups are the most volatile batch to be seen since 1st gen.
