Why are AESPA b-sides so...

I wouldn't say cringe, it's just the difference in quality between titles and b-sides is massive

Their titles are insanely good while the rest of the album, apart from 1-2 b-sides, is quite lackluster.

Their best song ever is a b-side. You not acknowledging this is a red flag But I'm going to overlook your flop taste (I'm Unhappy peak? Illusion not much better than Girls!??) because their albums overall are indeed lacking. My World and Savage are their best, but have multiple flops.

Drama is their worst, the quality difference between the title track and the rest here is almost shocking.

But weak b-sides is my opinion of most GG albums I check out and not just unique to aespa.

the savage album is amazing, and theres no quality difference between the title and b sides for me.

in other albums, i don't love every single song. but they have really good bsides like salty and sweet, welcome to my world, bahama, licorice, spark, kill it, flights not feelings, dont blink, trick or trick, etc.

not to mention illusion and better things.

No one cares about your music taste. They have a lot of amazing bsides. But they got some bad ones too as every group does.

They are ok.....

But Illusion should have been a title track and that's the tea

I disgree with you. Many of their bsides are far better than their tts prior to 2024. I don't ever remember liking a aespa title song except Black Mamba and their cover of Dreams comes true before Supernova.

But their bsides? some were EXCELLENT!

Like I'll make you cry for example and Lucid Dream. A mega banger and a k-rnb killer.

they also had Illusion which is a BANGER, and of course WTMW a literal masterpiece. and of course Flowers which you also mentioned is excellent.

for their full album mine, prologue and live my life were also very good specially the last one.

theres always a fire tt and one or two good bsides every single time

aespa's tts are always fire but their bsides dont reflect it

but uhhh i genuinely think my world was their weakest album apart from welcome to my world, i dont like any of the other songs

personally their best album was whiplash... im ok with every song and theres 3 that i actually like

My World is their truly great EP/album (it would have been perfect if only the ballad at the end was dropped).

Lucid Dream is a favourite of mine.

In my opinion, If you’re sat listening to Supernova and Armageddon, you might as well listen through Set the Tone as well.

I don’t think they have particularly worse b-sides than other groups. Blackpink and Lesserafim only have a handful of listenable ones too. But yeah, it’s a far cry from NewJeans.

They have some great b-sides but there's also a decent amount of songs I would skip. I don't think their situation is as bad as you're making it out to be. I don't think their discography is worse than their peers.

I practically don't like any of their songs, single or B-side.

-Savage mini have lucid dream, Iconic, i'll make you cry, aenergy. It is one of their most cohesive album

-Girls mini have illusion (yes, this is their 2nd weakest album)

-My world have all the great B-sides, Salty& sweet, I'm unhappy, THIRSTY (how can you forget this?!!!!!!)

-Drama mini - this album is the weakest. Only Trick & trick sounds decent cause the rest are outtakes from MY World (which originally supposed to be a LP but plan scrapped with LSM departure)

-Armageddon has Mine, Live My Life (one of their best pop song), Bahama (the fun song)

- whiplash - flower, Kill It (almost become their TT)

Overall i think their albums are decent, not great but above average

I dont think the situation is as bad as you try to make it to be.

My other faves IVE, LSRF, GIDLE similarly have some lackluster B-sides and i'm fine with them. No one really has that hit album which all songs sound impressive from start till end

We all may have to agree that Kpop albums dont work like Western album. in particular, kpop albums are not meant for long rollout period and hence usually only 1-2 tracks are promoted, which reduce the importance of B-sides since those are mainly for fans consumption and to make up the numbers. In recent years, kpop companies saw how promoting B-sides could give rise to potential viral hits, but again these instances are very limited (e.g. EPBW, Dolphin, Forever Young). Most B-sides get overlooked and some never being performed live by the groups. Hence, i will NEVER use the same lens to judge Kpop albums as those western artists' albums which take years to release.
