It was gonna flop regardless

This. Her career was already as good as over. What anyone thinks of her husband is completely irrelevant, even if they have lots to say about it.

Was it really?
When she dropped the MV for 'Attitude', before the shit went down, she made some waves and brought in interest because it was the 1st release with AT AREA. She got to 1M views pretty quickly
Nope
Hyuna's chinese fansbase is very loyal. 'Attitude''s numbers were basically thanks to them
She was bold in trying to do a world tour because international fans are rightfully done with her at that capacity. Her loyal fanbase is why I always preach it's important to maintain your dedicated fanbase because they'll stick with you no matter what. Which is sadly evident with her.
Are people also down on her in South Korea? I thought it was mainly international fans.
I guess she could focus on China since it's now open for kpop

I think the more she's seen out with her... ugh... hubby... the public perception of her will be in the gutter.
China has, once again, become an untapped market for K-pop companies and idols, so her promoting over there would be a couple for her flagging career.

Her image in South Korea got deeply damaged as well, many idols and old friends unfollowed her and both national and international fanbases closed because of her marriage
China is pretty forgiving of serious crimes (unless it relates the party), so she should do pretty well over there, in spite her husband's... past extracurricular activities...

I completely understand all the criticism against her and why people cancel her. But I can't understand why she's the only one to go through this and why other idols with equally toxic entourages aren't worried.
It'll flop hard just like any of her previous stuff since leaving Cube to be honest
and Please her man name is Junhyung
let's not link Jonghyun to someone like Hyuna or Junhyung

The world still hates women, that's why. To SK smoking weed is a bigger offense than r*pe! It's maddening!
We have disgusting Seungri with fans defending him. He barely stayed in prision after all his crimes against women. It makes me sick to my stomach!
Hyuna is rightfully canceled. And so should be monsters like Seungri, but she has it worse than him. It's the farthest thing from fair.

Oopsies, I didn't realize I wrote it wrong

I think that part always confuses me. Like you mentioned she's rightfully cancelled, but why aren't some of the people that did stuff just as bad or worse aren't cancelled? I guess it happens more in the acting scene but there are so many actors that should be cancelled but are having thriving careers. Then there's others that are cancelled for less like doing drugs but aren't cancelled for doing some awful things.
That part just always confuses me. I am unsure if it's different because kpop scene is much different than kdrama

tbh I don't understand how she has it worse than Seungrishit? His career is over over, he can't even cb (rightfully)!! But she can so like? And she isn't as criticized as him too like yeah, one is waaaaay worse than the other, but this comparation makes zero sense imo.
Btw yes, he should still be in jail, but I never trusted SK laws... And Hyuna fucked up pretty bad marrying someone indirectly involved in Burning Sun...
But let's see if she'll flop flop or if she'll make some buzz bc we can't deny her star power...

In general, women always have it worse than men. If there's a idol couple, fans of the male idol will ostracize the girl idol for stealing their 'oppa'. Girls can't show skin, but guys can take off their shirts on stage all the time and it's fine (it hurts the boys too, not denying that).
In the drama industry, I see actresess getting it worse than actors. A good example is Seo Ye Ji and Kim Soo Hyun. Seo Yeji because of her attitude towards her boyfriend and so on, right? Right. But now we have a Kim Soo Hyun that has a bunch of people defending, when he clearly did groom and date a minor.
Song Hye Kyo got it worse than Song Jung Ki, if I'm not mistaken.
The double standard is a serious structural problem.
People that did stuff just as bad or worse should get the same amount of backlash.
Hopefully the music is good.

Song-Hye-Kyo was almost done due to how badly she was treated, and thought about retiring. Luckily, she took a chance with The Glory and it paid off. Now she's thriving and the narrative has shifted more in her favor due to that show being a global success.
Kdrama world for sure leads heavily in favor towards men. It's why the unfortunate thing happened earlier this year because in no way should she have been a pariah when male actors that have done worse things are thriving. Plus, we can't forget how KSH keeps on deflecting towards women because he knows people would latch on that for distractions. In no way should the awful things he has done deflect onto other actresses.
Back to kpop. Jennie performance being criticized due to what she was wearing but I never see articles about male idols that are dancing shirtless. Also, the current drama with Nana vs Sunwoo. I don't know how his fans turned it into defending him and leaving malicious comments on her IG and spending their money on BBL to leave hate-post
I think with HyunA it's easier for her to get cancelled because she's dating the toxic person. People, hanging out with toxic people usually get a pass due to easier for people to let it slide. There's so many idols that hang out with idols that had bullying scandals. It might make some noise, but it usually gets lost in the news cycle.
Former idol lee naeun had that had the major bullying scandal, and a lot of popular idols hang out with her. Unsure, if she ended up being cancelled but I remember people with proven bullying scandals getting off the hook and many hanging out with them like nothing happened.
I am not saying for idols to get cancelled but I find it interesting how some get cancelled for it and others don't. Like certain idols with unproven bullying scandals are cancelled and others aren't. Will always remain a msytery to me
Her last project sold about the same as her other projects. I think she will get 10k+ sales. Say what you want about her but she might have some loyal fans that will purchase her music.
This. The fact that she stayed level is great for her (westerners once again demonstrating that they have little impact). With China open for business, she has a clear path upward.

Depends because Westerners still matter if attempting a world tour, which is why she had to cancel her tour.
When it comes to sales, then Westerners does not matter much. Like many mentioned ITT China is the clear path for her if she wants success.

I think an exception was Kang Daniel and Jihyo.
From the negative reactions I saw, most were aimed at him. It seemed to be because he was still new in the industry and "should" therefore work hard. This while she was seen as a veteran who deserved to relax a little more. It probably helped she wasn't the main stan attractor in Twice (even though I personally think she's one of the most beautiful).
He also had trouble with his agency, so lots of fans were mad that he was "playing" (in the sense of having run) while they were supporting him with 'all their might.'

I feel like this is the best song Hyuna's released in years, and appreciate the extra effort put into the performance (as it wasn't filmed on the show's usual stage).
