In your opinion what’s the 3 most important elements for a group/idol to be successful? [vote]

Company/reputation
Marketing/strategy
Music/concept
It's already enough to make a group successful. Now for them to become MORE successful than the average is good If, on top of that, they are also charismatic, pretty/handsome and have the luck (If they are at the right place in the right time). Fandom/support is a consequence of the success.

For me, the top three traits that make a group or idol successful are music, marketing, and personality. If a company isn’t providing strong marketing and promotions, even the most talented group can struggle to gain recognition. Quality music is essential because no amount of promotion can sustain long-term success if the songs don’t connect with listeners. Lastly, having an engaging personality helps idols build lasting relationships with fans, keeping them invested beyond just the music.

visuals - within a group the visual might not be the most popular member but rarely will they be the least popular
company - there is a reason why groups from the big4 do better (on average) than those that don't
personality - I will also add group personality and by that I mean group cohension and how well they associate and bounce off one another

Company privilege, visuals, and marketing, but that's technically the same as company privilege.
I don't think I have to write a whole book about why. It's obvious. BIG4 groups can chill and enjoy the success since pre-debut days, basically. They don't need to be talented, just be cute or hot, they don't need quality music either. Especially nowadays. 10-20 years ago it was different.
Most new groups wouldn't survive a single week in the first 2 or even in the early 3rd gen.
Also, I would never pick personality, because it doesn't matter anymore. Idols don't engage with their fans as they did back in the days. Most of their so called personalities are fake, almost AI generated. The era of the "down to Earth" Idols are over.
I just realized, we have AI Idols, so technically I was right. 😂

Talent
I'll address talent as i appear to be the only voter.
Talent is big. Talent can be the gamechanger. Talent, particularly vocal talent, can really elevate and open up the soundscapes and potential songs that a group can use. Having confident vocals means they don't demure from encore stages, from uni festivals - its a level of confidence on the stage that translates very well.
Some of the most talented stage performers (CL, Soyeon) create and lead legendary performances that elevate their group. CL is well known, but take Soyeon - her group was having a bit of a sophomore slump, and through sheer talent and ideas - they bring creative, interesting stages, her opening rap was legendary in talent, and Idle overcome their sophomore slump and gained a huge fanbase. That was sheer talent, no 2 ways about it.
Look at vocally talented groups, such as Nmixx and Aespa. I'm not fans of theirs, but it really opens the door on what songs they can be given and can perform. It allows for the producers and the marketing team to not be hamstrung on certain events, certain concepts, because they have the full latitude to go after any song they want. Nmixx may have been impacted but poor songs upon debut, and there are other factors why they aren't a top group per se, but they won't ever be caught unawares if the right song falls to them.
Meanwhile, some (will not be named) groups with far less talent, particularly vocal talent, have to be hamstrung into certain ways of singing, certain lines for their members, or singing well outside their natural range, which causes performance issues, it impacts how good the song CAN sound etc. They have to work around these limitations, heavily processed vocals, eschewing live opportunities, and other factors which can cause backlash.
Talent is also longevity. After the hoopla of the fresh faced new group and the visuals they have becomes commonplace over time, talent is the x-factor in being able to stay relevant in the public eye. I don't think it's any coincidence that out of the longer lasting groups in the current landscape, general popularity wise, groups that reached 6,7,8 years at the top despite not having the best visual or the best label - they were very talented.

Talent, music, and controversial but company
Talent and music speaks for themselves
Why I said company is because not many groups actually became successful from absolutely zero. The few that come to my mind are BTS, Sistar and Mamamoo. These are the few that built their company.
I reckon a lot of groups wouldn't be as popular without the backing of their company and that includes my faves

1. Company - This is the most important factor because the failure rate for a big 4 group is very low. We have people that are buying albums from big 4 groups without even knowing what their music sounds like.
Then for non-big 4 groups the known companies usually have some success. Say what you want about starship they're not a big 4 company, but it seems their groups usually have some success and have created memorable groups every generation. Meanwhile, comapnies that have poor history usually flop.
It's easier for a group to recover from a disappointing comebacks if they're from a big 4 group. On the contrary, a flop for a group from a smaller company means they're doomed.
2. marketing - How you market a group and having a proper rollout is important. idol industry is a business and like with most business how you market a product is key. The group can have all of the talent in the world, but if they're not marketing properly then the market doesn't care. There are many talented groups that are making great music, but they don't have the proper marketing to gain visibility and support. It's why a group from a reputable company will usually succeed because they have more resources to market their groups better.
The first 2 are the most important element because a group doesn't get fandom/support without marketing. I would like to say music/concept is 3rd most important element. It's hard to say it's the most important element because we've seen many groups that make great music flop because they don't have marketing and big company privilege.
3. If I had to choose a 3rd element, then it would be visuals. I feel visuals makes thing easier for a company to market a group. Plus, visuals is enhancing element that can attract people to follow a group.

support/fandom
company/reputation
marketing/strategy
fandom brings in the money, fills the concerts seats, do mass streaming, do mass bulk buying, with a strong backing of fandom the artist is pretty much unflopable.
company opens more doors to various different fields such as connections within the music industry, both domestic and international, fashion brands, product brands, interchange of industry such as film, variety, music, gaming, talkshows etc etc.
marketing/strategy when done right can truly void competitions
