It’s safe to say TBL is completely incompetent at managing idols

You’re all so ready to criticize 'Batter Up' as a debut song, but I think even a song like that would have been more suitable for Meovv. The members are gorgeous and have potential talent-wise, but they aren't being managed well under TBL. They would have suited songs similar to 'Playing with Fire' and 'Whistle' much better.

They've sent two members to Fashion Weeks. And it was obvious they will get that BP route with lot of dungeon treatment.
He’s dreaming if he thinks he can get the ‘BP privileges’ with songs like ‘Meov’ and ‘Toxic
Sending someone to Fashion Week is like going to Inkigayo these days… The spotlight will mainly be on A-list stars and House ambassadors. They’ll get a Getty image, and that’s it.

"Batter up" is suitable for any Yg gg. The problem is that this song has low impact as a debut song.
If "batter up" were given to meovv, the result would be the same.

Meow did far better in Korea than Batter Up did but TBL didn't promote them and didn't follow-up well at all

It’s actually been difficult for me to keep up with MEOVV’s content because they’ve been doing a whole lot. Variety show appearances, fashion events, and their own YouTube content…
So the content and promoting are out there. They just have a very niche appeal at the moment, and it doesn’t help that a lot of K-pop fans are more invested in NewJeans and anything associated with them.
Maybe MEOVV should have pretended to copy NewJeans for a teaser or two, bait people into talking, and then switch things up for their actual music and MV.

I think that the plan for the group is to keep the song count low and get the influence numbers high, which is something that Blackpink and other non-YG/TBL labels seem to be aiming at. They definitely want to generate a feeling of "special attraction" whenever they put out music, but their primary money generator doesn't seem like it will depend on releasing music (at least from what I'm seeing now).
I get tagged in all of the Moevv posts, and I don't remember any recent music news after "Toxic."

Teddy is finished musically, yeah YG is shit but the way Baemon has more mv/ songs in a year than bp has before the album era means teddy played a huge part in BP’s dungeon. He doesn’t drop a song until he’s sure he’d be a hit and it seems like he doesn’t trust meovv to give them constant hits like Blackpink.

I'd like to be wrong, but a music group not releasing music is a bit weird. We'll see what they come out with in 2025.

the thing is for me, MEOVV had so much hype in Korea that even a mediocre YG song would have been a better choice for them. And I think TBL has been doing a good job with MEOVV recently, but the difference comes down to label power in the Korean media. YG, SM, and JYP have the influence to reach the general public, whereas TBL, despite putting in a lot of effort on YouTube and other platforms, still seems unable to break into Korean media.

the question has to be whether the artist themselves have issue with the company

They are too new as a group to dungeon musically and just give side quests too.
You really need to strike while the iron is hot and build the audience through releasing music, until there is enough that a strong enough fandom has grown, THEN you can go side quests like fashion weeks and variety content.
But side quests don't bring new fans in, and those it does will want the core content, the music.
If they come in, find 2-3 songs from months ago, they will move on fairly quickly.
Like... Fashion Week. Sure, parade Elle/Ella/Whatever around for a bit, tell onlookers "Heres a cool new Kpop artist, she's here because shes a cool new Kpop artist, look at the cool new Kpop artist", but... if theres not enough actual cool Kpop music for interested new would be fans to consume, they will move on fast...
