So why is YG so inefficient at its main business--releasing music?

yg was probably happy the girls were making big money with their brand deals... plus teddy doesn't seem very prolific, and he takes a lot of time to write anything too apparently. i don't know why they didn't try to find other producers...

Because YHS's MO from day 1 has always been exclusivity with his artists. The less you see them, the more you want them...and that mindset has continued to this day even though the Yang brothers have been pushed to the shadows to run YG.

First it was exclusivity which worked a lot with BB and 2ne1 to some extent, then with BP it was really lazy work. It's like they never planned things ahead ? So yeah, and while they did try the exclusivity with BP they made it even worse for them having like 2 years of real work (music) and 5 years of absolutely nothing so they had this ~2000 strategy which evolved into something totally ridiculous and thankfully this lead to a no renewal from the girls.

About Winner and iKon, they had music, but yge literally disappeared with them the moment they had hits and it's not like they were at the level of disappearing, he wasted a lot of great opportunities with them. BP is a miracle when you look at this.

Treasure and Baemon is post BS so yge is now in a time where they don't have the luxury of being lazy so while they are doing their job "alright" their reputation is on hell so it won't be easy for them to get as big as even Winner and iKon in SK.

They can only do 5 artists comebacks a year because of the "quality > quantity" bs

The preparation for one comeback takes 2 months

The reason can be that it's a matter of motivation,in 2017, 2018, and 2020, almost all his artists made a comeback and there are years when he only focuses on tours instead of giving more comebacks to his artists.

Like superyeah said some artists are perfectionist.
