RM being selected as a role model for his 'impact' in helping stop violence against women is a joke

  • So yes he did nothing to deserve this. And your examples here prove it if your bar is this low well that’s on you but people are allowed to think this is embarrassing.

  • Exactly, stupid kpop fanwars aside, the stories coming out of Korea some even very recently have been horrendous. Someone who hasn't even spoken up about those issues or EVER talked about violence faced by women should not be mentioned like this.

  • So yes he did nothing to deserve this. And your examples here prove it if your bar is this low well that’s on you but people are allowed to think this is embarrassing.

If that's your opinion after reading what I wrote then I got nothing more to say.

Bc he doesn't bring awareness about this issue? Has he ever talked about the misogyny environment women go through? Has he ever used his platforms to share important infos, helping and being a voice to women?

What he did is to "learn" to be a decent person, but in which way he shared his learning and helped women? In not writing problematics lyrics anymore?

What did he do to deserve this? He learned that women are people with rights too?

He uses his platform to promote books, songs, and has spoken many times about this. In both video and written interviews.

I remember he got flack for promoting feminist books by male incels on that one korean forum in particular that also targeted female idols like Irene for promoting the same book to fans.

Anyway as I said, he was not awarded a medal or anything for "activism"

He was simply put on a list as an example of positive influences. And if yall can get so upset over a list than that's on y'all. I simply wanted to share that he wasn't there simply because.

  • You can always count kppopies to act absolutely butthurt over a list as long as they can bash a BTS member.

We are not surprised to see the usual suspects.

Even if you have a problem with the list, why not complain to the Organisation who made it? This is not a list based on self-made applications.

RM did not apply for this, he did not "accept" it since this is not an award either. It just a list. He is literally enlisted right now so in what World does he has any control over this?

By the way, it's even funnier to see male GG stans who have literally mocked and bashed female groups IN THIS VERY WEBSITE... talking abou misoginy.

  • Because his own fandom is compromised of some of the most rampant, harmful misogyny in the entire K-Pop community and he has made zero effort to address or suppress it in any way? Artists can't be held completely accountable for their fandoms, but they're not completely absolved of responsibility either, since they have more impact and influence on their fans than any other individual.

Stop dying on every hill you can find for these men. Let me rephrase that. They're grown ass men. They'll be okay. You don't have to baby and damage control for them 24/7.

  • Vapid whataboutism is about where I set the bar for the type of responses your ilk would muster up, since you are physically incapable of processing and accepting legitimate criticism and perfectly valid opinions.

Spare us the strawman. Nobody said RM asked for the award. People just don't think it's warranted, and we're allowed to express that.

Head to a BTS discord or subreddit if all you want is unilateral praise for your boys. And don't you ever again engage in whataboutism when it comes to misogynistic behavior again, when the worst girl group fans here combined and squared couldn't hold a candle to the putrid things your fandom has said about girl groups and female idols.

    "dying on every hill" pfft

Call it what it is i.e respect.

Anyone so actively willing to become a better person has my respect.

He promoted books and songs with feministic views to his fans many times.

So he is using his platform???

Wait let me get this straight. You are condemning him for his fans?

I think every idol needs to be condemned then lmao. I want written apologies from them all.

It's a list specifically about violence faced by women and mentioning feminist books or promoting/supporting women doesn't cut it.

I find this so random because he has NEVER spoken or even claimed to know about violence faced by women in general.

But of course there are people in the thread doing the most over a list from a random site.

  • It's impressive how you read that and even took the time to respond, while managing to completely fumble even a remotely accurate interpretation of my point

Let me try to elucidate this for you.

I did not say RM should be condemned in any way, but the pushback and/or negative reaction to him or any BTS member being recognized for anything related to female empowerment is perfectly valid and understandable, when their own fandom exhibits some of the ugliest, nastiest and trashiest behavior towards women without any attempt from them to curve it

Well, then again, Jungkook did come out publicly to defend NewJeans.

And ARMY said he got hacked because they refused to believe he wouldn't support mass bullying 5 young girls.

And when HYBE employees on BLIND literally called JK an IDIOT, the fans defended THEM over HIM.

Yeah, I've seen and said all I need to on this topic.

I simply took the list as he provides a positive influence on men his age.

Look im here to provide reasons why he was likely recommended and/or chosen.

I'm not here to change people's opinion. So idk why you talking to me about "other people have a right to get mad". Like I told another user, if that's their opinion I have nothing more to say about it.

I simply came to say I respect him for working hard to change and I understand why he is a POSITIVE INFLUENCE for other young men his age in this regard.

  • Accepting undeserved compliments, makes it an insult to the deserving.

RM could simply respond, 'Thank you, but I don't think I have done enough to earn this, I will try to do better in the future"

But he isn't accepting anything, that page made a list and they included him. And pls, who knows what is The Pixel Project, I've just known this list thanks to OP. To think RM knows about this when he is an idol doing his military service is just to throw shit.

  • Are those POSITIVELY INFLUENCED young men in the room with us? Do you have any proof of RM changing the mindset of men his age? Because if the behavior of young Korean men around his age is your justification for RM being chosen for this award, I have some bad news for you :meme-erm:
