I've been streaming "untitle" every year in november-december

His voice have such a melancolic feeling

He sings like he went through 10 breakups and 10 death

I swear he should really release more songs like this cuz i feel like a lot of people just see him as a "gimmick" artist and don't really see him as a singer

When he's capable of doing things like this

  • I agree. Today's K-pop fans tend to not care about anyone except their favorites, so they'll only hear some hyped release and think that's all the artist has to offer. False.

GD might be known for creating club bangers, but I don't think that's even his greatest strength. His somber songs, both with BIGBANG and as a soloist, are where he really shines in terms of writing.

    Just to name a few...

    "Untitled, 2014"

    "If You"

    "Blue"

    "Loser"

  • Wow, I didn’t know him back them but wow this gave me goosebumps

  • It's not wasting talent, it's just his mind doesn't fit just a boring box or formula, he releases a lot of songs for several moments in his life, it's pretty much an "autobiography" so Power while isn't everybody's cup of tea, it's literally the message he wanted to convey. So sure, it's not his best, but nope, it isn't a waste, specially when you understand the whole concept from lyrics, to outfits, to MV, etc.

He'll release one more song in MAMA and early next year he'll probably release his album, don't worry, I'm sure he'll give us a ballad, slow song.

  • what doesn't make sense, why would a rapper focus on singing, just rap like there is nothing wrong with rappin !?!?

there is no need for singing.

    That's a narrow-minded perspective.

You said you don't listen to GD. If you did, you'd know he's not just a rapper. You're just labeling him that because you don't know what music he makes or what he did during 2nd gen.

He created melodies for other singers and himself. He's very capable of singing and making these songs.

I don't think it's right to box artists into just one skill set when they want to do more.

  • sure but maybe I don't like it when idols rappers don't actually rap in their music, it's actually pretty rare to have an actual idol just who raps and not f*cking sings, I hate that when that happens.

"Wow, I am the Only normal one here."

That's one "interesting" pet peeve to have.

I don't get why you want to box him into this rapper label instead of acknowledging that he's also a singer, songwriter, and producer.

    Or maybe you're just trolling...

  • Knowing his independence to create his own music, means everything have been released are his own taste. It's not wasting talent, he just doesn't cater to trend or expectations of him and just wants to make songs or message he feels like to deliver.

I am not putting into a "box" but rather, I don't like when people want to idols rappers to sing and not rap, it's kinda simple really.

I see what you mean now, but GD always sang and rapped. He did this even when BIGBANG first debuted.

So SooYoung wanting GD to showcase his singing more isn't necessarily a bad thing. They're not saying GD should stop rapping. They're just saying GD should showcase this side of him more.

This isn't the same as, say, wanting Eminem to start making more singing songs instead of rap songs.

I don't see anything wrong with having a preference as long as you respect the artist's autonomy.
