HYBE announced on the 5th that its operating profit for the third quarter of this year based on consolidation was provisionally calculated to be 54.2 billion won, a 25.4% decrease from the same period last year. Sales decreased 1.9% year-on-year to KRW 527.8 billion. Net profit decreased 98.6% to KRW 1.4 billion. Of the 527.8 billion won in sales in the third quarter, direct participation sales such as album sales, performances, and advertising amounted to 323 billion won, while indirect participation sales such as MD, licensing, content, and fan club sales amounted to 204.9 billion won.
Regarding its third quarter sales, HYBE stated, “Although the release of albums by HYBE Music Group artists was somewhat delayed due to the impact of the Olympics, indirect participation sales that reflect the performance of artist intellectual property (IP)-related businesses showed a significant increase, leading the performance.” He also said, “Thanks to the consistent performance of HYBE Music Group artists, the accumulated sales for the third quarter of this year exceeded 1.5 trillion won. Following last year, the green light has been turned on for achieving the 2 trillion won mark in annual sales for the second consecutive year.”
Regarding operating profit, HYBE said, “The operating profit in the third quarter was 54.2 billion won, and the operating profit rate was in the 10% range. This year, HYBE’s operating profit rate is rapidly increasing from 4% in the first quarter, 7.9% in the second quarter, and 10.3% in the third quarter,” adding, “In the fourth quarter, various HYBE Music Group artists, including BTS Jin, will begin activities.”
