Why is nobody questioning APT’s overnight success

  • Like they do with HYBE artists? Bruno Mars and a Black Pink member, it’s catchy, but we’ve seen other instances with collabs but never to this level. I started to question it when I see an APT ad filling the entire screen appear when I open YouTube app. I see posters for APT around my city. It’s obvious her backers are powerful, so I don’t believe all its success is simply organic. Maybe some payola action too?

  • bc its bruno mars

he has more hits that seventeen has members, he had the numbers one song in the world before atp, FOR +40 DAYS

Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga together did squat, and Gaga is way more recognized than Rosé

Cuz even the non kpop fans people i know

Know the song so it's enough to prove its success

people know it because it’s being pushed hard on TikTok. It’s Cupid on steroids

  • A label could push a song but if people don't like it, it would not translate to streams, views and social media engagement.

it always takes some time, even with popular songs. APT was like next day it’s everywhere. I don’t doubt it wouldn’t be successful on its own but I think there’s an effort to make sure it’s at the top of everyone else

  • because it's really good her global success is understandable she is also collaborating with Bruno but in Korea is because about a drinking game and koreans are all about the drinking culture. she was just smart making music about what people just seem to love. it's was a good strategy + good song.

  • Apt is a somewhat special case. The fact that it is going viral is so logical that it’s hard to think of PROMAX payola. Of course, like any song, this doesn’t exclude promotions (ads, posters, recommendations on streaming platforms,…) which are common practices to boost diffusion.

Also, no hate either, but APT is perhaps one of the easiest songs to promote; it doesn’t take much effort to create content around this song

Rosé and Bruno were very clever in making this song

  • but just how much of the success comes from the inorganic pushes. Like these bot YouTube comments are too obvious ijbol

  • Only a fool and jealous people would think that Apt. has nothing but buzz and ads

    When everyone likes the song.

Even the people who work with me listen to Apt. without knowing who Rosé is and give f about Kpop or BP or what APT means.

The song is good, people are playing it and Atlantic is trying to capitalize on it (which is exactly what a label should do)

    One take One shot 🍻

  • so you should also agree that Cupid was basically all organic

  • It's not the kind of song that I'll ever add to my playlist but I totally get why it's so popular.

It has popular artists from different regions so it's reaching a larger audience. It's got the nostalgia factor in the sound, it's fun and catchy. I've already seen it being used in reels of non-kpop circles.

  • Maybe try to go out and look around you. Here in my country, APT can be heard everywhere. All ages from kids to oldies sing it.

Even in other countries, the song is everywhere.

It is all over tiktok which us the most consumed social app right now.

And there is no even promo yet which is frustrating because APT could be bigger than it is now if it is promoted by Rosé and her team. But thankfully, the general public carries it.

For the ads? Another passive promo. But just look at the views and likes ratio and you'll see how it is organic. The general public just loves the song. That's just it.
