I have a new perspective on what I now view as the most impressive aspect of NewJeans' success and dominance since their debut [YamaRant Content]

I don't want this buried in the unintended Megathread I made about HYBE getting exposed as petty, manipulative frauds.

I just typed something on this in said thread, but I'm actually going to start from scratch here, because I feel that strongly about putting NewJeans' success in its proper context, given how much their company actually hates them.

And I want AKP BunniesTaglist to think on this too.

We now know that HYBE has seen NewJeans as competition, not an asset, since just 5 days after their debut. We also know they've been caught trying to take a brand deal from them (outed by Apple), and we know they tried to even steal the creatives they worked with (such as the Director of their Ditto/OMG MV). For months we've known that the executives at HYBE refused to even acknowledge the members and created an incredibly toxic work environment for them, where the Chairman and Founder of the company literally pretended they didn't exist, while publicly showing support to his favorite group on multiple occasions. He has a group chat with one group and invites them to his home in L.A., but won't even accept greetings from NewJeans. That alone speaks volumes.

Quite frankly, I'm now convinced that the only reason HYBE funded ADOR and NewJeans is not out of some desire to actually see Min Heejin create a successful girl group, but because she was going to leave with her trainees and HYBE did not want to lose her to a competitor. That's it. I see the idiots on reddit asking why would HYBE want to sabotage their own group, but with their burn book being outed, and seeing how HYBE even took action against members of BTS, especially V, is it really that surprising?

For two years, when people have gotten annoyed with my constant bragging and boasting about NewJeans, the response has almost always been "IT'S ALL PAYOLA!!!", yet now we have definitive proof that HYBE would never work that hard to help NewJeans succeed. In fact, HYBE never thought NewJeans would be even half as successful as they were. I'm sure their mindset was that they'll throw some money and a sublabel at MHJ to shut her up and keep her happy, and then they can focus on making the real HYBE girl group (we all know who but I don't want to name drop them) successful, while MHJ can flounder with her doomed boring group.

But we know how everything played out, and that is exactly why they were so salty only 5 days after NewJeans' debut. They never in their wildest dreams thought those girls would become the center of the K-Pop universe in a literal night.

So I will just end with this ultimate perspective:

Doesn't that make NewJeans even more impressive? The biggest entertainment company in K-Pop was at best not actively supporting them and at worst actively working behind the scenes to sabotage and undermine them. NewJeans has never had the full support of HYBE, and HYBE would have been happy to see them flop. If they actually cared about NewJeans, they would have never done to these girls what they have over the past 8 months.

I will steal my gaming analogy from my other thread to wrap this up. If you're not a gamer and this doesn't land, oh well.

NewJeans debuting and instantly becoming the biggest K-Pop group of their generation, with HYBE making no effort to truly support them, is just like a gamer starting a MMO with a permanent stat debuff and halved experience gain, and still reaching max level 50% faster than the rest of the player base.

That's how impressive they are, and my entire perspective on their success in spite of their parent company is forever altered. Imagine what these girls could have still accomplished if HYBE didn't literally hate them and their CEO?

ADOR (and MHJ) have professionals that have been in the indsutry for years + connections in the industry. They even have deals with apple, spotify etc. If not HYBE then it was MHJ definitely. NJ has been impressive since debut. But let's not act like they were debuff. More like no extra help from HYBE. But i dont think HYBE is so stupid to actively boycott NJ at that juncture when (1) LSRF were still rising (2) competition was fierce with IVE GIDLE at the peak (2) they were still expanding and needs healthy outlook for investors.

We also know HYBE was actively trying to take work and brand deals from NewJeans, and that they treated the girls like dirt behind closed doors. Now we even know NewJeans was even seen as competition; the write-up for them was all about a different girl group; none of it was about positioning NewJeans to be a global force in K-Pop.

That is a debuff, when your company is not going above and beyond to make you a success.

Put yourself in their shoes. If you found out your employer was not only giving you the best opportunity for success, but also actively making decisions that would limit your potential success, you would feel some type of way.

if hybe actually supported them like a healthy company would have, the girls would be undsopabble. they would probably already have a grammy nomination, proper american promotions, coachella, full album etc... and more.
